I have 1Password 5 but i want to delete everything on my Mac and make a fresh install. I already have synced my passwords via wifi sync with my iPhone. is it still necessary to have another backup of the data or can i just sync phone and mac again after the clean install?

    Greetings @Sam2015,

Personally I wouldn't feel reassured unless I knew I had a complete clone of my drive before starting over. That way should you ever think "damn, I forget to copy x" you know it's still retrievable.

There is one benefit to backing up the 1Password support folder and dropping it back in. It's nice and easy to start over and Wi-Fi Sync a vault on your Mac to an iOS device but it isn't as obvious the other way round. It's still possible but dropping in your Mac support folder from this instance will also mean you retain all of your backups as well. The actual folder will depend on whether you're a Mac App Store customer or an AgileBits Store customer.

    • AgileBits Store: ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/
    • Mac App Store: ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/

Good luck with the fresh install and while I hope it would never be needed, consider a complete clone of the drive as it's better to have it but not need it than to need it and not have it.
