My 1password on mac suddenly stopped working
Today when I tried open 1password from firefox, it was not working and prompting errors saying I need to install the app, which I had and been using it. Then I tried to open the app itself, it didn't open up. I tried downloaded it again but again I got the error message saying I can't open the new downloaded version either. Can anyone help please ? I'm quite crippled without it.

Did you receive any error message when you tried to open the app? If so, what exactly did it say?
You might try this:
- Drag the 1P app to the trash (don't use any app cleaner tool, which is likely to try to delete files you need to keep).
- Empty the trash and reboot.
- Re-download and re-install 1P.

Hi @CT,
I just wanted to check in and see if @Stephen_C's suggestion resolved your issue for you. If not, please let us know so we can help you get 1Password up and running again.

@Stephen_C I tried your method but it turns out the same result. The message says "Check with the developer to make sure 1Password 5 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application of OS X." I don't know what's changed, I was still using it in the morning and suddenly it stopped working at night.

That is very strange. Forgive me for checking, but you did follow the procedure in my post exactly, didn't you (including the reboot)? I ask only because that procedure does usually fix the problem you have.

Hello @CT,
Like Stephen_C I am puzzled. We've definitely seen reports like this but we don't know why OS X has suddenly taken a dislike as 1Password 5 actually requires Yosemite. The reboot is an important part of the steps as it ensures caching isn't affecting the situation.
I would recommend ensuring you have no copy of 1Password in
/Applications/
, your Desktop or your Downloads folder, following it up with a reboot and after you've downloaded a new copy, placing it in your/Applications/
before launching. Please do let us know if you continue to experience issues though.0
