Yet another Multiple Monitor issue - Save Login popup on different monitor
Mac Yosemite
Chrome Extension
Save Login popup shows up in the middle of the "main" monitor rather than on the browser window that you are working on (like it did back in version 3)
1Password Version: 5.3.2
Extension Version: 4.4.3.90
OS Version: OS X 10.10.5
Sync Type: dropbox

Hi @chrisfinne,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, things have been pretty busy on our Mac forums recently!
This might be part of a known issue, but in order to tell for sure, can you please let us know a few more details:
- What exact version of Chrome are you using?
- If you use the
⌘\
or⌥⌘\
keyboard shortcut while using Chrome on the second monitor, where does the 1Password mini window appear? - In System Preferences > Mission Control, is the option for "Displays have separate Spaces" enabled or disabled?
- If you manually drag the 'Save Login' popup to the second monitor, does it open there the next time?
Thanks in advance!

latest chrome on mac. 45.0.2454.101
browser is on secondary monitor, mini-window appears in the center of the main monitor
that mission control setting is enabled
When I submit a new login form and I manually drag the "Unlock to save this Login" to the secondary monitor, it still reappears in the main monitor.
When I use cmd-\ I can drag the window to the secondary monitor and it will remember where I put it, but the problem here is that I have browsers on multiple monitors, so this isn't the right solution. Version 3 had the right solution where it was anchored in active browser at the spot by the 1password button in the toolbar.

@chrisfinne: What you're referring to with 1Password 3 is because each browser had a separate, self-contained extension. This was great only for the particular issue you're having right now. For everything else, it was pretty terrible given that data could become trapped there and get deleted along with the extension itself.
What you're seeing isn't the 1Password extension; it's the Helper thats really running the show and making sure that everything works together correctly. It's a separate app, and not part of any of your browsers or the extensions installed in them. That's why there's only one. So while this is one drawback of the current implementation, I'm not sure that many of us would willingly go back to the old one. And for the time being it isn't possible to have you cake and eat it too. I'm not sure that what you're proposing is possible, but we'll certainly look at ways we can improve this in the future.

I traded degraded usability on an interaction I do 50 times a day to solve a potential problem I wasn't having.

Hi @chrisfinne,
Thanks for the additional info, and I'm sorry the 1Password mini position isn't appearing as consistently/correctly as it did for you in 1Password 3! Ideally, the 1Password extension/mini window and "save login" prompts should appear on the monitor with the browser window you're currently using. We do have an open bug report for this issue, so our developers are looking into squashing it (I don't have a timeframe for that, though). I apologize for the inconvenience! I'll add your comments to our internal tracker to let our developers know you're also running into this.
For now, there are a couple potential workarounds. You can try toggling the "Displays have separate Spaces" option in System Preferences > Mission Control to see if that makes any difference. Or, you can drag the "save login" window to your secondary monitor as it seems to remember its position when you use the
⌘\
keyboard shortcut. Alternately, clicking on the 1Password extension button in your browser (or the Mac's menu bar) should make it appear correctly on that monitor. I know these workarounds aren't ideal, but thought they were worth mentioning in case they help while waiting for a fix.I'm sorry again for the trouble! Thanks for your patience while we look into this, and for taking the time to report the problem. If you have more questions, please let us know! :)

I'm not sure if this is the same issue or separate, but I'm on El Capitan with Safari as a full screen window on my laptop. I have an attached display that is set to be "above" the laptop screen under screen arrangement. When I click the 1Password extension, it appears at the bottom of the attached monitor (right "above" the button) instead of within the full screen window on the laptop screen

@evandulaney: Hmm. I'm not sure if this is related, but frankly I'm having some trouble visualizing what you mean. Would you be able to attach a screenshot?

Just re-read the OP, this is a separate issue, I'll make a new thread though.
EDIT: I do also experience the password save dialog showing up on a separate display though.

Thanks @evandulaney! I see that you opened a new thread, and I think it might be the same issue as this discussion, but I'll keep it separate for now and reply to you there shortly. :)
