Cannot Fill Item in Web Browser error message
Hello there,
I have in the past 3 days wiped my iMac clean and upgraded to El Capitan. I have reinstalled 1 Password including the Safari extension.
I am however unable to use it as I keep getting the error message: Cannot Fill Item in Web Browser. This was working fine on Yosemite.
I must also state that I have a second iMac running Yosemite with 1 Password installed on it and it has shown this problem for a long time but I ignored it because I use this Mac in the study more often.
Thanks
1Password Version: 5.3.2
Extension Version: 4.4.4
OS Version: 10.11
Sync Type: dropbox

Hi @lurdsammie,
I'm sorry that you're running into this error, and thank you for including the screenshot.
Please have a look through this troubleshooting checklist and let us know if anything there applies to you or helps you solve the problem. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.
I do not use chrome or Opera, and I don't even know what chromium is, so no I don't use chromium. I use Safari. Occasionally I use Firefox.
Yes I am using the Mac App store version. But that is what I have been using since version 4 and worked well until now.
I do use Webroot Anywhere enterprise antivirus on all my devices. But again I have used for at least 6 months now without much problem. And indeed while 1Password was having problems on one mac the others were working until this Mac also developed the same problem after reinstall.
As regarding rebooting, it has seen at least 5 reboots in the meantime without much success.
I am currently using copy and paste to login to all my sites which of course is highly inconvenient.
Thanks
Sam

Greetings @lurdsammie,
Just as a test, would you be willing to try disabling Webroot Anywhere, just briefly, to see if the issue persists or not. I certainly don't expect you to leave it disabled but it would help eliminate it as a potential suspect. We know that software like anti-virus etc. can interfere with the extension so it isn't without reasonable cause that we wonder if Webroot Anywhere is blocking something. It might be a whitelist needs to be updated and everything will work fine but first we need to ensure we're looking in the right location

OK. So this is what I have done.
I upgraded 2nd mac to El Capitan
Created a fresh user account
Disabled the webroot Anywhere antivirus.
installed fresh copy of 1Password download from your site (instead of mac store)
tried a couple of websites via the 1Password.Outcome: Problem persists.

Hello @lurdsammie,
I think taking a peek at a diagnostic report might be a good next step. This guide will assist. As the issue is over two Macs could you supply a diagnostic report for each please as looking for similarities might help isolate the cause.
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums
The email address you will want to use is support+forum@agilebits.com.
When sending the diagnostic report to the address above it would help immensely if you could include a link to this thread and your forum handle so we can connect the two.
Once you've sent the report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. With access to the report we should be able to better assist you
