1P mini and form fill shortcut [known issue when multiple profiles are used during same session]
Hi,
I switched from Safari to Chrome recently and whenever I use the CMD+\ shortcut, 1P mini appears which forces me to use ESC - every time I want to login - to dismiss it. This never happened in Safari.
Any idea how to resolve this?
Thanks,
Ali

Hello @alisalem,
Do you have more than one Chrome window (not tab) open and more so, do the different windows belong to different Chrome profiles at all? We are aware of an issue where the two separate copies of the 1Password Chrome Extension get themselves confused. What the user will see is the page will fill as it should but then the menu pops up anyway because of the other profile and that copy of the extension not realising everything was already handled by the other. Does this sound like what you're experiencing?

@littlebobbytables, I do have 2 profiles yes. However, I've only got 1 window open for 1 profile and the menu always pops up. I tried on another Mac with only 1 profile added and it didn't pop up, so this confirms that having more than 1 profile causes the issue, regardless of how many windows are open. Perhaps there's a background extension running for the second profile even if all windows are closed for it?

Hi @alisalem,
Thanks for confirming you have two profiles in Chrome! We usually see this happen when two windows (one for each profile) are open in Chrome, but someone here figured out how to reproduce this with just one Chrome window open. It definitely sounds like that's the problem you're running into, and I apologize for the inconvenience! Our developers are working on squashing this bug (although I don't know when to expect a fix). For now, when the problem starts happening, you can try restarting Chrome to see if that helps (if you have Chrome's preferences set to continue where you left off on startup, it should open the same page(s) you had been viewing in that window). The problem may return once you switch to another Chrome profile, though. Of course, another workaround is to use the ESC key as you've been doing.
Again, I'm sorry about that! Thanks for letting us know about that. If you need anything else, please let us know. :)

Hi @alisalem,
I'm the "someone here" that Drew referred to who figured out how to reproduce this bug with a single window open for any profile. :)
But the real credit goes to the inspiration from your comment:
Perhaps there's a background extension running for the second profile even if all windows are closed for it?
Indeed, that is what's happening. Once the 1Password extension process has been opened for a profile it appears to remain open even after the profile is intended to be inactive (by closing all its windows), which can be seen by opening the Task Manager window:
Other extensions processes have similar multi-profile retention behaviour; this is not unique to the 1Password extension. You don't see that in the screenshot since it was taken without other extensions enabled in a second profile.
After using
End Process
in Task Manager to quit the 1Password extension process(es) for any inactive profile(s), leaving only a single one running,⌘\
filling will work as intended without 1Password mini popping open. The Process ID can help determine which process(es) to quit. This workaround is an alternative to what Drew suggested, albeit a bit tricker. Thanks again for bringing this up! :+1:

Glad you guys found out the cause. Hopefully will be fixed soon!
Thanks,

A lot of people will be very happy when we do  I hope so too.
