1Password isn't copying generated passwords reliably (Macintosh)
I went to Staples.com and updated my account with a new password. This is on a Mac with Firefox, and with everything up to date. The item Copy to Clipboard Before Filling was checked, but it didn't copy to the clipboard. When I try to copy manually with CMD+C, the Generate Password box goes away, which was surprising -- I wanted to click the Fill button. There was also no prompt to update the 1Password entry with the new password.
This has happened in the past, and makes it difficult to trust the product. I now have to go back and create a new password and try to save it.
Also, when I created an account to write this message, 1Password didn't offer to save the login information.

Hey @hshubin! If you have the clipboard clearing feature enabled on a short timeout, that could be what's causing your password to disappear from the clipboard. You can find this setting in 1Password's Preferences > Security.

I just tested using
Command + C
to copy a password to my clipboard and the Mini app does indeed close, but the item is in my clipboard. It remains there for 90 seconds because I have the clear clipboard function set to remove it after that time (which is the default). If yours is behaving differently, let us know and we'll figure out what's going on. :pirate:Also, when I created an account to write this message, 1Password didn't offer to save the login information.
Did you fill the password using the Password Generator? If you did, could you try copying and pasting the password and letting us know if 1Password offers to save it then?
As a side note, if you generated a password when you created the account and saved it, it won't prompt you to save it because the password will go to the Passwords category in 1Password. You can make it a login later if you'd like by selecting the item and clicking Convert to Login in the bottom left corner of the item's info pane. :)
Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any questions about it.

Thanks. I have the same 90-second setting, but the copied pw was lost in much less than 90 seconds.
It's hard to know exactly what I did in any use of the product because I only think about recording my steps after there's a problem. But I know that I have had the problem many times where passwords are not recorded properly. Is there a way to record what happens while using 1Password?
Regarding Passwords and Login -- can I NEVER have something recorded as a Password, but always as a Login? That'd make me happy.

@hshubin Thanks for getting back to us about this.

Do you have anything else accessing your clipboard? What happens when you manually copy something like a link or password from outside 1Password?

The 1Password Troubleshooting Utility allows you to send us a log of things, but it's for fixing bugs within the app and doesn't log every action. It's best to simply describe what's going on. If there's something that seems like a bug, you can feel free to email us a diagnostic report so we can take a look at things a bit closer.

While this is something that makes sense in some scenarios, it doesn't in others. For example, if you want to save a password for an encrypted file on your computer, there is not a username, so it would simply be a Password item that is titled something appropriate. In the case that you do need to turn a password item into a login, you can do that with one click using the Convert to Login button.
Hope that helps!
