Is there a way to test a vault password without disconnecting the vault.

I have a suspected password for one of my vaults in 1password and would like to test the password but if its wrong I don't want to lose access to vault in the event the guess is wrong.

    Hi @ErlicTheMad,

There is a way yes, actually two that spring to mind. The first will work though.

Lock your primary vault so that 1Password asks you for your Master Password. Having done this either use the keyboard shortcut short cut to switch vaults or use the menu option 1Password > Switch to Vault. You will see the text in the password field change to inform you which vault you're trying to unlock and only that vault's password will work there. If you still remember the password you'll gain access but only to that vault. If you try switching back to your primary you'll find it locks again. It's neat although not a feature I use heavily myself but I think it will be useful to you in this situation

Perfect that worked and now I know that is the right password and can embed it into my vault just in case. Yes it sounds odd. But I like to store the vault password inside the vault so that if I lose connectivity to the vault in one place another location can give me the key to unlock. But the password stays safe. Or at least as safe as one password keeps things. ;)
