I updated to El Capitan and most of my passwords are gone. Help. 1password vs 1password5. Huh?
So I'm supposed to have 1 Password from the Apple App Store in order to get 1 Password, but I have 1 Password 5. And my computer had to be wiped because the upgrade to El Capitan messed up a bunch of stuff. So now I have 11 passwords instead of 80+ passwords. WTH? Help!
1Password Version: 1 Password 5
Extension Version: 4.4.4
OS Version: OX El Capitan 10.11
Sync Type: iCloud

Hi Rebecca,
I'm sorry to hear about the problems with your Mac! It sounds like that resulted in some problems for 1Password.
To make sure I understand, are you saying you currently have two different 1Password apps installed on your Mac, and they're named 1Password.app and 1Password 5.app? If so, and if they have the same icon, then it sounds like you have both the Mac App Store and AgileBits Store versions installed at the same time. Or if they have different icons, you might have 1Password 3 and 1Password 5 installed at the same time (version 3 was also named 1Password.app).
In either situation, each of those two different 1Password apps would have its own database on your Mac. Which one is showing you only 11 items? If you quit that and open the other one, does it show your 80+ items? (To avoid some other potential issues, when you quit one version of 1Password, hold the
control
key on your keyboard, then go to the 1Password menu and select "Quit 1Password and 1Password mini".) Also, in order to check the exact version of each one, go to the 1Password menu and select About 1Password.Now, I may have misunderstood what you meant - if you don't actually have 2 different 1Password apps on your Mac, did you mean that you used to have an app called 1Password.app before your Mac was wiped, but now you have an app called 1Password 5.app? If so, it sounds like you downloaded 1Password from our website instead of from the Mac App Store. In that case, you'll need to launch the Mac App Store, make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID you used to purchase 1Password, and reinstall it from the Purchased tab.
Please let us know if one of the above situations describes what's happening on your end. If I've guessed wrong and the problem is something else, please let us know more details about that. Once we know more about the issue and what you're seeing on your end, we'll have a better idea how to continue. Thanks in advance!

I will begin a new thread but to share my similar issue, I also have 1P3 and 1P5 installed on my iMac. IIRC I downloaded 1P5 with the understanding it was an upgrade to the previous version I was currently using (which I thought might be 1P4, which I can't find on my system. I write off some of this as errors on my end as I was in the middle of transferring data and system files from my newer iMac to my older one when the newer one was suffering HD failures.
Anyway. The 1P3 was working (with El Capitan as the OS) until I clicked on REVEAL or COPY password, when the program would quit. When I opened the 1P5 version, it would ask for a password to open and whatever I input was not recognized. I've only ever used a single password to open my vaults since I started using your program at 1P1.
All versions have been downloaded from your store. I've got version 6.0.1 on my mobile doohickies. I am trying to research what version I'm eligible for on my desktop. I don't mind paying for an upgrade, its just difficult to ascertain with so many versions floating around.
Anyhoos, I will formally ask my particular question in its own thread later this week but thought I might have some help with this persons issue.

@JKN, thanks for sharing your experience! I don't know for sure if that's the same problem the OP is experiencing, but if it is, hopefully that will be helpful.
I do see that you started a new thread for help with the problem(s) you're running into with 1Password. I (or someone else here) should be responding to that shortly.
Thanks again! :)

Hi Drew.
No I don't have 2 separate programs. I seem to have the #5. I quit it, using the control key, went to the Apple Mac store and tried to buy it, but it says I already have it. So when I try to open it--the only option I'm given--I get the error message every time. I have restarted. No help. What do I do now?I think the combination of you folks changing something this week and my upgrading to El Capitan has really messed me up.
Meanwhile, I have no passwords for anything at this point. Ouch. Help.

Well... based on your support page, they do not support the past few versions of OSx or Safari. https://agilebits.com/extensions/mac/

@Rebecca Jallings I think there's a risk of confusion because you have two threads which appear to be about the same problem. Have you tried the suggestion posted by AgileBits in your other thread?

Hi @kellygary,
The page you linked to is the browser extensions for 1Password 3, a much older version of 1Password than we have now. 1Password 3 hasn't been under active development for some time now so yes, a few cracks are beginning to show. This is a very different issue from the one experienced by others.
My fear is this thread is in risk of causing a lot of confusion.
@Rebecca Jallings: As Stephen_C notes, we've been communicating with you in another thread. I think to ensure we don't end up pulling you in all directions we maintain a dialogue there.
@JKN: I see you did create a new thread and we're communicating with you there.
@kellygary: Should you be experiencing problems please do let us know. Could I humbly request that you create a new thread please so we can focus on your issues without getting distracted. If we can help we will
So that this doesn't become chaotic I'm going to close this thread. To all, please do keep posting if you're having trouble - we want to help each and every one of you.
