data from 1Password button and 1Password program do not agree

The data from the 1password button in Safari and from the program version 5.3.2 do not agree. The program has a permanent restore button that I clicked several times, thus ruining the data. How do I 1) get the program to agree with the Safari button (not vice versa) and 2) how do I get rid of this restore button? I have done a Computer Restore but it did not help.

The data from the 1password button in Safari and from the program version 5.3.2 do not agree.

That is very strange because the 1P Safari button represents merely a front end for the exact same database as is contained in the main app vault.

The program has a permanent restore button that I clicked several times, thus ruining the data.

I don't understand what you're seeing. Where is this button? Is it in the main app, is it in an individual item in the main app? Can you post a screen shot? (Once you've taken the screen shot and saved it as a png or jpg file you can upload it by clicking the last icon on the toolbar above the box where you type your post.)

Is it possible you have two copies of 1P on your machine, or on any disk that's permanently attached to your machine?

    Hello @AllanC10,

So we know you're running the latest version of 1Password for Mac which is 5.3.2 when you're an AgileBits Store customer and you've said you're running OS X 10.11 AKA El Capitan. I have a couple of questions that might help clear this up.

    1. What version of the 1Password extension is installed?
    2. If you perform a Spotlight search on your Mac for 1Password, does it just show an application titled 1Password 5 or does it also show an application merely titled 1Password?

Like Stephen_C, I am also curious about this restore button that you're seeing. It might be a screenshot of that small part will help us understand if you find describing it is proving difficult. Trust me, it's tough to find the right words to describe a component of a software program and that's if you do this stuff day in and day out.

I'm sure we can help you to get everything working though

1Password (beta) 4.5.0.b1 with a checkbox checked for Enable "1Password (beta)", a button on the right for uninstall, and a checkbox checked for automatically update extensions from the Safari Extensions Gallery at the bottom. Frankly, i thought I had left the beta programs altogether many months ago.
Whatever future actions i take, I do not want to lose the actions presented by clicking the 1password button in the safari toolbar

I pulled your screenshot and placed it in a viewing area for the staff. It seemed to contain some personal information so I wanted to protect your privacy on this public forums.

    Greetings @AllanC10,

I think the screenshot that thightower removed may highlight the issue. Now he removed the screenshot as he was concerned it might have shown more information than you wanted to show in a public forum so I apologise for not clarifying that.

Back to your query. At the moment focus in the Sidebar is on 1Password's Trash. It works just like the Trash in OS X where it stores deleted items until you empty the trash. This is why the items have a Restore button, 1Password is offering you the possibility of restoring the item which moves it back from Trash into your vault. If you select the All Items option in the Sidebar you should see your actual vault.

Of course if I've misunderstood at all please do let me know but I think this might be the solution

I tried to update 1Password to version 5.3 and now nothing works. How do i delete everything having to do with 1password, 1password mini, 1password extension and 1Password app except my license, and do a clean reinstall from scratch with nothing from the past contaminating this new install. I will retype all my passwords when required.
I'm 84 years old having suffered an aortic aneurism three years ago and a slight stroke a month ago. I do not want to know anything about this program other than how to run it. I cannot afford to have my blood pressure rise any further.

1Password 5.3 was not connecting to mini. I found the instructions for what to do and restarted the computer. The installed extension is 1password 4.4.0. It works. I have no idea why the version numbers disagree, but it works. I did check a box to let it automatically download the latest extension and will leave it at that.

    Hello @AllanC10,

I could have sworn I typed out a long response as we don't want your blood pressure to rise either and certainly not to be the cause. As that response clearly isn't here all I can do is apologise as I don't know what happened. It would seem my mind is playing tricks on me.

The extension works not just with 1Password for Mac but also 1Password for Windows and as such it follows its own development schedule. Over time that has meant that the version numbers don't match but don't worry, you are running the latest version.

So despite the feeling that we let you down a bit here does everything seem to be working correctly?
