Hi, why doesn't "convert to login" prompt for the user to enter a username? This would seem logical

Converting a generated password to a login should result in the user being prompted for a username??

Current functionality simply creates a login with only a password and no username, which I think is somewhat nonsensical?

    Hi @ameldrum1,

Thanks for taking the time to ask us about that! The short answer is that the Convert to Login button simply copies the fields in a Password item (i.e. password and URL) to a new Login item. Depending on what the password is for, you might not actually have a username that goes with it - but if you do, just click the Edit button of the new Login item and fill in the username field (then click Save).

To give you a bit more information about that - Password items are created whenever you click the Fill or Copy button (or if you highlight the password and press ⌘C) in the password generator in 1Password mini. You can do that from any app on your Mac, not just web browsers. Lots of people need to generate passwords for things that don't need a username to go with it. But you can simply edit the item to fill in your username if there is one.

Ideally, you would normally want to save Login items from the sign-in page of a website, because 1Password is able to save details about the web form that way (and that helps it to fill the correct fields in the future). When you save a Login item that way, your username is automatically saved in it, along with the password. (If 1Password doesn't prompt you to save a Login item the first time you sign into a site, you can follow these steps to save one).

Hopefully that answers your questions, but please let us know if you need anything else. We're always happy to help! :)
