Outlook error on Mac after changing password using 1Password 5

Hi,

I recently set up 1Password 5 on a Mac and changed the password on my Gmail account to a 1Password randomly generated password. After doing this, I also changed the corresponding password in the Outlook application and the Mail application on the machine. The Mail application has worked fine ever since, however, Outlook keeps popping up with an error each time I open it.

The error says:

"Mail could not be received at this time. The server for account “ mail" returned the error "[AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Invalid credentials (Failure)." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect."

This issue never occurred before I changed the password to one of 1Password's randomly generated passwords, and even though I've tried copying the password from the 1Password app and pasting it directly into the user authentication window that pops up, this error continues to appear.

Does anyone have any experience with the Outlook app on Mac and 1Password?

Thank you for any help you can give!

    Greetings @curtis_baillie,

So just to confirm, after changing to using a strong password generated from inside 1Password you can log into your gmail account from both the web interface and Apple's Mail application, the issue is specifically just with the Mac Outlook application?

Obviously we don't want to appear as if we're passing the buck at all but could it be this is more an Outlook thing than a 1Password thing? I would love to comment and try and assist directly with Outlook but I've been a Thunderbird user myself for a while now. One thing I wonder is, I assume you have to change the password in two locations, one for IMAP and another for SMTP. Could the error be because you've changed one but not the other? Another thing I wonder is have you enabled 2FA on your Google account? That definitely has an impact in Thunderbird where I had to create an app specific password for any application that wasn't 2FA aware but still wanted to access via IMAP. Those are pretty generic queries I'm afraid and might not lead to anything given you have it working in Mail.
