From the above comments, it looks like my wife and I can use the same 1PW account on the one Mac we have. We are separate OS user/logins on the Mac. But I still need to know how to setup 1PW on her user login. It works fine for my login. We would prefer to use a shared keychain.

I should add to the above comment that I sync with WIFI only. We both use the same Apple ID.

    Hi @wnlight,

It sounds like your situation might be slightly different than the previous thread, plus you have questions about syncing & sharing vaults with your wife, so to avoid confusion I've moved your posts to a separate discussion. I hope you don't mind!

From the above comments, it looks like my wife and I can use the same 1PW account on the one Mac we have. We are separate OS user/logins on the Mac.

1Password for Mac is available from our AgileBits Store or from the Mac App Store. If you bought a license from the AgileBits Store, that can be shared by up to 6 family members in the same home. You would download the 1Password app from our download site, and activate it with your license file. There's a link to download or apply that license file in the license email you receive after making the purchase. If you bought a license from our site but no longer have that email, you can have it resent from this knowledgebase article.

If you bought the Mac version of 1Password from the Mac App Store, and want to share that purchase with a family member who uses a different Apple ID on their Mac (or Mac user account), you can set up Apple's Family Sharing option, which would allow other family members to download 1Password from the Mac App Store for no additional charge. Apple has steps to set up Family Sharing on their support site here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH18977

But I still need to know how to setup 1PW on her user login. It works fine for my login. We would prefer to use a shared keychain.

As long as you have the 1Password app in the Applications folder, it should show up there for each Mac user account on that same Mac. The first time your wife opens the 1Password app, she'll be able to choose her own master password and create a new, empty vault. Your own 1Password vault on your Mac user account is completely separate from her 1Password vault on her Mac user account. However, if you want to share a vault with your wife so you both have access to that data, you'll need to sync the vault via Dropbox, and share it with her using Dropbox folder sharing. We have steps to do that here: Can I share an entire vault with my family or co-workers?

I should add to the above comment that I sync with WIFI only.

Wi-Fi sync is designed to work between one Mac and one or more iOS devices. Therefore, you won't be able to use Wi-Fi sync to sync/share a vault with 1Password between two different Mac user accounts.

We both use the same Apple ID.

That will only help if you're using iCloud sync, which is only available in the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac. iCloud does not let you share the data with a different iCloud account / Apple ID - however, if you bought the Mac App Store version of 1Password and both Mac user accounts are signed into the same Apple ID, you can use iCloud sync to share the same 1Password data.

Does that help? If you have more questions about that, please let us know - we're here for you! :)
