On my mac, when I go to Sync in 1 Password, then Dropbox, the path says trash>1password.agile.keychain..... what should I do?

    Hi @jandevries,

If you had been using Dropbox sync for that vault in 1Password, then manually moved the 1Password.agilekeychain file from your Dropbox folder to the Trash, that would probably explain why you're seeing that path in the Dropbox sync settings (I just tried that myself and had the same results).

Now, I'm assuming you want to sync your 1Password vault via Dropbox? If so, and if that 1Password.agilekeychain file was previously located in your Dropbox folder, try opening the Trash on your Mac, find that file, right-click on it and (if available) choose the "Put Back" menu option. If you're able to do that, and the file goes back to its proper location in your Dropbox folder, you should be able to go back to the sync settings in 1Password and see the correct file path.

If that doesn't work as I described, it should be quite simple to reset Dropbox sync for your vault in 1Password. But to make sure we give you the correct steps to do that, please let us know a few more details:

    • What version of Mac OS X are you running?
    • What exact version of the 1Password app is installed on your Mac?
    • Are you using the AgileBits Store version or the Mac App Store version of 1Password?
    • Are you trying to set up Dropbox sync? Was it working before, but then stopped working, and that's when you found out it was in the Trash?
    • What other devices are you syncing with 1Password?
    • What version of 1Password are you using on the other devices?
    • Are you having trouble with Dropbox sync in 1Password on the other devices? If so, what happens?
    • What device has your most up-to-date 1Password information?
    • Do you receive any error messages? If so, what do they say?

Thanks, and looking forward to hearing back from you! :)

Maybe it isn't in the trash..... can you look at this attachment and tell me if it is? I am running 10.11 on my Mac How would I know what version of 1Password I am using? I am syncing my iPhone and iPad with 1Password (trying to). My computer seems up to date but not my two devices. No error messages. Can I call into AgileBits for help? Jan

  • Hey @jandevries! Well, there's good news: It is definitely not in the trash. :) It looks like it's actually in /Users/jan/Dropbox/Apps/1Password. The thing is, 1Password for Mac doesn't sync there by default — that's the iOS default folder. So it looks like you set things up on your iPhone or iPad at one point and now you want to move things over to your Mac. Have you already set up the Mac app or are you doing it for the first time?

If the app is already set up, open it and click 1Password in the menu bar and select Preferences. Then click the Sync tab and click the vault you want to sync. It should ask where your vault currently is in Dropbox. If you moved it after you installed 1Password, the app usually keeps track of it anyway. However, something else may have happened.

The most likely answer to this is that your vault simply hasn't been synced with your Mac yet. That's easy to fix. If you're still getting started with the Mac app and haven't set up a vault in 1Password, simply import your vault from Dropbox during setup. If you've already set things up, all you have to do is double-click the 1Password.agilekeychain file in Dropbox to add it to the 1Password for Mac app.

Let me know how things go! :)

I am sure you are a real person but I am going to go to a real person consultant. Not everyone wants to learn all the ins and outs of all these apps and websites!
