Best workflow for creating new logins manually?
Hi -- we (at Magpar) are all huge fans of 1Password!
Often we have to create a new login record manually. At the moment, we have to open the Mini App from the toolbar or browser plugin, launch the 1Password main app, and then physically click the plus symbol to get the new login record dialog.
The use case is that we've used 1Password to generate a password which we've just used on a website and, with the password still in the clipboard, we now want to paste it into a new login record along with the username (in these 1Password didn't auto prompt to save).
Is there a better workflow?
I imagined that I could type alt-cmd-\ to bring up the Mini App, then cmd-N to get the new login dialog, but nothing seems to happen?

Hi @philmillo,
Thanks for asking us about that! I think there's definitely an easier workflow - in fact, you shouldn't normally need to create new Login items directly from the main 1Password app. It's better to save new Logins from the web browser (using the 1Password extension / 1Password mini), because that will record additional information about the login form which will help 1Password fill that form again in the future.
If you're signing into an existing account on a website, and you don't currently have a Login item for that saved in 1Password, you should be prompted to save a new Login as described here: Saving a Login
Now, you mentioned 1Password didn't prompt you to save a new Login item. If/when that happens, you can manually trigger 1Password to prompt you to save a new Login item by following the steps here: How to manually save a Login
If you have an existing Login item for a website account, and you want to change your password on that site, the best way to do that is by following these steps: How to change a password for a site saved in 1Password
Do any of the above scenarios describe what you're trying to do? If not, can you please give us some more details? If 1Password isn't working as expected, we'll be happy to help you that - just describe exactly what you're trying to do, the exact steps you're taking to do it, and what happens. Thanks! :)
