1Password Anywhere Dropbox & encryptionKeys.js Failing
While using 1PasswordAnywhere I continue to get a 404 error when loading the page. I have verified over and over that the file is there, the permissions are there, and even tried to erase and re-sync everything according to this page:
https://support.1password.com/dropbox-error-encryptionkeys/mac.html
Still no luck. And I can confirm that the file is there by browsing to it via the Mac Finder and the Dropbox webpage.

Hi @cwanja,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with 1PasswordAnywhere. Before we go much further, I'd like to get just a few details from you to ensure that we'll give you the best fix steps.
Please provide a little bit more about your 1Password ecosystem:
- What is the version number of 1Password that you have installed? (Please include all relevant computers and devices)
- What is the version number of your operating system (for all computers and devices)?

@Megan
Find the information requested below.
Mac versions- OS X 10.10.5 (14F27)
- 1Password 5.3.2 (532001)
- Chrome 46.0.2490.71
- Safari 9.0 (10601.1.56.2)
Mobile Devices
- iPhone iOS 9.0.2
- iPad iOS 9.0.2
- 1Password 6.0.1
Windows versions
- Chrome 40.0.2214.93
- IE 11.0.9600.18015CO
- Windows 7 Enterprise, SP1
- 1Password is just via internet browser from 1Password Anywhere
In further testing, it works on a Mac - local file and via Dropbox. Further more, it works on Chrome on the Mac and Safari on the Mac - versions included above. It works via IE on Window as well. Seems to be localize to just Chrome on Windows.

@cwanja: It isn't clear to me why this should make a difference, but Chrome on your PC is way out of date (I believe 6 months or more). The current version is 45, so be sure to update. The fact that is isn't updating coupled with it working on my otherwise identical machine (and your others as well) makes me wonder if Chrome is simply damaged there, since it should be auto updating. Please let me know what you find!

@brenty I will completely agree with you on that front that the Chrome version is out of date - simply looking at the Chrome on my Mac versus the Chrome on Windows. However that is out of my control as it is a Company issued laptop where software installs and upgrades are managed by a central team. And we are typically behind - as you can see. I would like to note that it worked for the last year and a half with no issues until (what I can only assume) is a recent upgrade to Chrome that was pushed.
While IE is working for me, as much as it hurts me to say that IE is doing anything good, I have found a bug where when copying the password it grabs about one or two extra return characters before the password. Minor, considering Chrome has completely gone out.

Hi @cwanja,
Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about that given that it works fine in the latest Chrome versions on Windows 7 for us, not to mention that it's the same file for all browsers, there's nothing specific being done for Chrome.
Is it possible you might have an extra extension in Chrome that could be blocking this? See if you can disable all extensions in Chrome and try again, it might work. The error you're seeing can happen if a security extension is blocking certain scripts.

Hey @MikeT
Thanks for the suggestion and information. I have no extensions running on Chrome and I would venture to imagine that something changed in this version (either for the better or worse) from the previous version I was on and then Chrome or 1Password Anywhere was updated to resolve itself in a later update. Versioning is controlled by a central team here in my company, so I will just ride the IE train until it is resolved. As a side note, do not know if it matters, but I have found out that Chrome is being "virutalized" - could this be an issue as well? I really have no more information other around what specifically the "virtualizing" means or does.

I am on Chromium for Linux (CentOS 6.4) version 42.0.2311.152. I am having the same problem and it just started happening last week. My version of Chrome has not changed and it worked fine last week. I have no extensions installed.
I thought it was another problem with Dropbox preventing the js execution again but just tried Firefox on my box and it worked fine.

@cwanja: I'm really not sure what that means either. It very well could be related, but I can't really say what effect that might have without some concrete information.

@PilotConway: In both cases it may simply be that Dropbox also doesn't support outdated browser versions. Are you using a current version of Firefox, as opposed to the old Chrome release?
Dropbox has been awesome enough to allow 1PasswordAnywhere to access the external files it needs, but I imagine a time will come that they will no longer be able to maintain that.
But in the mean time, I'm able to access 1PasswordAnywhere in all current browser releases, so the only difference in your case seems to be the older version of Chrome. The best thing to do would be to either update (if possible) or use a different (hopefully more current) browser.

@brenty, @MikeT, @Megan
Thanks for all your help with this. That is a suitable answer for me, and one I figured when I investigated our update log on my laptop. IE works (still shocking to say) and will continue to use it until I find a Chrome version that gets put into User Acceptance Testing in my company. Thanks again for your assistance and such a great product.0 -
@brenty Firefox version 38, so we are a bit behind there too.
We are only allowed to run certain versions here at work so we will pretty much never have the latest. Issue I will have is that 1PasswordAnywhere is the only access I have to passwords while at work. I can't install it locally here and can't use the mobile versions either. :-(
I hope Dropbox will keep supporting it because its a fantastic resource having access to my passwords anywhere.

@cwanja: You're most welcome! Are you by any chance able to use Firefox? It sounds like ESR 38 (which will be 'current' until May, when they move to ESR 42 I believe) works, so that may be a better fit for your situation. I suspect that because Mozilla officially supports the ESR (Extended Support Release) channel (it's there expressly for business situations like yours) Dropbox may be able to target that for testing as well. Maybe that could serve as an alternative (or backup option) for you.
@PilotConway: Thanks for clarifying! Firefox ESR makes a lot of sense, given the environment.
I will say that Dropbox likely won't be able to support the exception they make for 1Password.html indefinitely (if you even rename the file, it won't be able to load). It's really not a matter of "if", but "when" it will break again, and there's no guarantee that there will be a fix. They need to do what's best for their service.
We realize that a number of people depend on the functionality of 1PasswordAnywhere, so we're absolutely looking into alternatives. :glasses:
