Business Site Licenses that can sync via iCloud?

Hello,

we are a small business and would like to buy a number of 1 Password Licenses (about 3-5) that are not bound the individual privat apple accounts of our employees. The business store looks right for that but we would also like to have the possibility to sync them over iCloud. This is not possible if you buy multiple licenses over the business store, correct? Is there any solution for this?
Thanks a lot for you help!

Best
Rob

I can answer your question about buying from AgileBits business store - You would indeed NOT have access to iCloud for syncing, since Apple doesn't allow access to the required protocols to any application they do not sell themselves through one of their two App Stores.

I am not aware of any provision for bulk licensing for businesses in the Mac App Store, but that would be something that would have to be pursued through Apple, since AgileBits has no control over sales in the Mac App Store. They don't even get notice of who the customers are. But I do expect someone from AgileBits will be along with the definitive answer about that.

Are you aware that Apple provides no way for users to share data in iCloud when each user has his/her own Apple ID? Vault sharing strikes me as being important for a business. That can only be accomplished if you use Dropbox for syncing data, not iCloud.

@Rob_500: Indeed, as far as I know Apple does not offer site licenses for enterprise or education — except maybe to IBM.

As hawkmoth mentioned, Dropbox Sync may be a better option anyway, especially if you need to share vaults between users. Ad you can always email us directly at support+licenses@agilebits.com for license pricing through our store. Please let me know. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)

    Hello,

thanks a lot for your answers! If we would purchase a number of licenses using the business store, is Dropbox the only option for us? We are using Teamdrive (https://www.teamdrive.com) to share our files. Is it possible to sync 1Password using Teamdrive? We would rather not add Dropbox as yet another system.

Thanks for your support and best wishes
    Rob

@Rob_500: You're very welcome, Rob! I'm happy to be able to help. :chuffed:

I would definitely recommend Dropbox Sync, as Dropbox itself not only has a great track record when it comes to syncing 1Password data, but also we at AgileBits have tested it thoroughly, and many of us (and our customers) have used Dropbox to sync our 1Password vaults for years. It's a configuration that's fully supported by AgileBits, and personally I've got nothing but good things to say about their service and support.

That said, while I am not familiar with TeamDrive in particular, many enterprising 1Password users have used the Folder Sync feature to use unsupported sync services with 1Password. The primary drawback of this is that it will be limited to computers. Mobile devices are not able to be configured to write to the filesystem in this fashion. But, provided you backup your data religiously, and that TeamDrive maintains a local copy of your data, it may be possible to use that with 1Password. It's just not something that we're able to officially support at this time — though we're always evaluating additional options.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions! :)

Hi thanks a lot for your answer! Now I bought 1 license with two seats via the business store. Currently I am trying to figure out how this works. These licenses/seats always seem to be connected to my name since I bought them. I thought it would be possible to assign these two seats to two employees with their names. How would it work if one employee leaves the company and we would like to give his/her license to another employee?
    Thanks and best wishes, Rob

You may want to take a look at the newly announced 1Password for Teams. Although it has nothing to do with iCloud sync it will offer many, if not all, of the things you need.

    Hi @Rob_500,

If you prefer to assign them to individual employees, that is something we could do for you. But it would mean that the licenses would belong to them and not the business. So if they leave, they would take the licenses with them. As it is now, the licenses would remain with the business when the employees left. It is a less than perfect system, which is why, in part, we created 1Password for Teams, like @Stephen_C said.
