App Store v.5.4 / I had a problem with the update

I am using MacOs El Capitan, v.10.11, the App Store Version of the 1Password

A while ago, I had an up update notification on the AppStore Application. I already had the 5.3 version of 1Password, but weirdly enough it recommended the update, i.e. v.5.3. My 1Password worked normally, I don't know why this happened...

I downloaded it the 5.3.. As soon as I downloaded it, I had another update notification on the AppStore, for 5.4 version of 1Password.
I downloaded it. As soon as I started the 1Password Application, I had a message that this application cannot run and I should uninstall it, download it again, and install it again.

So, I uninstalled 5.4, downloaded again 5.4 from the AppStore, and now it runs smoothly.

This was very weird to me. Can someone explain what happened?

Security is very important for me, so I would like to know if we have an issue here.

Thanks!

    Hi @olyroad,

    Sorry for the delay, we're seeing a lot more queries at the moment so we're making our way to each and every one, just not as fast as we want.

    Apple's servers have been under a bit of strain it seems this week. I've seen some quirky behaviour and even had trouble downloading updates. I don't believe there is any risk to you but if you're concerned at all open a Terminal window and check the output of the following command codesign -dvvv /Applications/1Password.app

    Executable=/Applications/1Password.app/Contents/MacOS/1Password
    Identifier=com.agilebits.onepassword-osx
    Format=bundle with Mach-O thin (x86_64)
    CodeDirectory v=20200 size=16733 flags=0x200(kill) hashes=827+5 location=embedded
    Hash type=sha1 size=20
    CDHash=bb7995ae854eb86210e16c95033266a048d27b31
    Signature size=4169
    Authority=Apple Mac OS Application Signing
    Authority=Apple Worldwide Developer Relations Certification Authority
    Authority=Apple Root CA
    Info.plist entries=29
    TeamIdentifier=2BUA8C4S2C
    Sealed Resources version=2 rules=12 files=1379
    Internal requirements count=2 size=1044

    Key parts are the Authority lines, Identifier and TeamIdentifier. If they all match then you can be confident that it was just a blip at Apple's end. If you still have concerns though please do let us know :smile:
