WiFi sync only on specific networks
I really love the idea of your WiFi sync feature, but I've been wondering if it is possible to limit the synchronization to specific networks.
I assume that there is some sort of traffic per the broadcast address to determine if the mobile device and my notebook are on the same network. This should be fine most of the time.
But let's say both devices are connected to a possibly insecure WiFi, for instance a restaurant/coffee shop/University.
Would it be possible to restrict WiFi sync to a set of trusted networks?

Hello @mrbombastick,
There may be a third party piece of software that could assist but we simply use Bonjour to broadcast the availability of 1Password so we pay no attention to the network. I've stumbled upon something called ControlPlane and there are probably others. I can't comment on its effectiveness as I've never tried it but a service like that would seem to allow you to set up one Network location with the likes of Bonjour allowed for when you're at home and have Bonjour or 1Password blocked when elsewhere. Somebody else might be able to jump in if they're doing something similar and have a favoured application to do so.

Well thank you. So I could just tame Bonjour w/o having to consider yet another service.
Works for me.0 -
Greetings @mrbombastick,
I confess I've never tried to but if that's possible then in theory it should work. 1Password cannot sync if the two copies cannot see each other. I would definitely test this somewhere safe first to ensure it's working as intended as I don't have first hand experience to supply steps I'm confident in (my normal preference).
Just for anybody else reading this thread. I'd like to add that all communication between the two copies of 1Password is encrypted regardless of the state of the Wi-Fi connection. Put it this way, I'm confident enough that I synced in an airport while travelling using their free Wi-Fi. I do understand that people prefer to lock things down though.
