Problems syncing mac osx with iPhone 5S & iCloud

I'm using Mavericks on os x 10.9.5. "Notes" sync fine between iPhone 5S and iCloud, but not to the Mac. Default accounts are all set to iCloud. I talked to Apple support about this once & they finally got it working, but they still couldn't say what caused it. I see comments here about 1Password Versions, but I don't know what that is. I have automatic updates on the Mac but I don't always do updates on the phone. The syncing has worked in the past and I have the same devices, so could it be a phone update thing, or has something changed with iCloud recently?

    Hi @polythene333,

To be able to say anything conclusive we will need to learn a bit more about your iOS device, this link should help with the question of Which version of 1Password am I running?

If you're running 1Password 5 for iOS or higher than we've discovered the cause as iCloud did change quite dramatically last year with the release of iOS 8 and Yosemite. It's now known as iCloud Drive and how iCloud Sync works isn't compatible with how it used to work in 1Password 4 which is what you are running on your Mac with Mavericks. The version of 1Password for iOS will help ensure we're on the right track or need to explore a different cause.

I have iCloud and Keychain on both my iPhone 5S and my Mac (Mavericks). I have never seen and can't find anything called 1Password on either device. If I'm understanding your comments, then it seems they should have compatibility. Thanks very much for your help.

    Hi @polythene333,

These support forums are regarding the application we (AgileBits) develop and it's called 1Password. Now you've stated

I have never seen and can't find anything called 1Password on either device

So I'm wondering, are you a customer of ours?

Thanks for the response. Not sure I know what you mean about being a customer of yours. Is 1Password something sold here? If that's what you mean, I would become a customer if/when I understand better if I need this product to solve my problem. Thanks

    Hi @polythene333,

Sorry for any confusion! We are a small company called AgileBits, and we make (and sell) a password manager called 1Password which is an app available for Mac, iOS, Windows, and Android. You can find more information about 1Password here: https://agilebits.com/onepassword

These support forums (discussions.agilebits.com) are for help with 1Password, and you created this discussion in our forum for the Mac version of 1Password. If you aren't currently using 1Password, then your original post was probably describing a problem you were having with Apple software. But the problems & features you mentioned could also have described 1Password, as we use a lot of the same terminology, and even have some similar features (for example, there is an iCloud sync feature in the Mac and iOS versions of 1Password). So, we thought you were already using 1Password and were having trouble syncing your 1Password data, which is why littlebobbytables asked about the version.

So, it's possible you ended up here entirely by accident and were instead looking for Apple's support forums. However, if you're curious about 1Password, we're more than happy to answer any questions you might have about it! The link I gave you above has a video which gives an overall description of what 1Password does, and if you click one of the buttons below that video (i.e. for Mac, iOS, Windows, or Android), you'll be able to read some more specific information. I think that should give you a good idea of what 1Password can do and if it's something you're interested in. And like I said, if you have questions about that, just let us know! We're always happy to help. :)
