OPVault Dropbox sync missing lots of items [follow-up support moved to email]
Hello,
Is anyone else facing issue with missing items on iOS when using OPVault Dropbox sync from 1Password 5.4.BETA-45 (540045) desktop app?
- I have disabled sync on both iOS and OS X and deleted 1Password folder from Dropbox enitrely.
- Enabled OPVault from help menu
- Setup Drobpox sync again
- Configured sync on iOS
I have more than 100 items missing on iOS, also the OPVault file on Dropbox is 30% smaller than .agilekeychain
Looks like there is a bug in data conversion to OPVault, has anyone else experienced the same?
In fact I have just upgraded to the latest stable release of 1Password 5 Version 5.4 (540047) and there is no more OPVault option in the help / tools menu. Has it been removed?
1Password Version: 5.4.BETA-45 (540045)
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: OS X 10.10.5
Sync Type: Dropbox

Greetings @Malbec,
The OPVault option is still a function that we're limiting to beta only for the moment. We don't want to introduce to everybody yet as 1Password for Android doesn't currently support it. So it hasn't been removed due to any known issue, more we don't want it available to everybody until all platforms are fully supported.
I haven't had any troubles with OPVault yet but that isn't to say there may not be one that requires our attention. I would like to ask, is there anything in the iOS vault that isn't in the Mac vault? I'm wondering if the issue can be replicated if you were to start over with an empty vault in 1Password for iOS. This is only possible though if we know for sure there isn't anything at risk of being lost. How would you feel about this?

Hi @littlebobbytables, it is actually the other way around. I have 330 items + 8 trash on 1Password 5 for Mac, so 338 items total. Upon conversion to OPVault using procedures outlined in the support article and syncing to iOS, I have 250 items under the sync tab. That gives 80 or 88 items lost, not sure yet if the iOS is syncing trash items or not.
It seems it doesn't happen with the new records though, but starting from scratch is not ideal I think.
The data has been migrated from mSecure to 1Password via converting tool available on your website. I am already on this with support [#IGB-36265-975]

Hi @Malbec,
If we're already in contact with you regarding this it will be best to keep the conversation there rather than have me ask any questions that have been already asked or confuse or duplicate efforts in other ways. Conversing by email will allow us to delve into the issue to a deeper level and ask questions we may not be necessarily be able to ask in a public setting. Hopefully we can identify the cause and correct it.

You are right but perhaps I am not the only one with this problem. Keeping it public is just for reference to let the audience now that there could be such a potential problem with missing items upon OPVault migration. Perhaps once the solution is found, updating this thread will give other users facing the same issue a solution.

You're in good hands with the person looking into your ticket so I hope we can discover the cause.
