Cannot use shortcut to switch to another vault with 1password mini ?
When using 1password mini, the shortcut keys to switch vault is not working. I can only unlock the main vault and from there go to the parameters to select another vault.
The workaround I've found is to open 1password5, use the shortcut to chose the vault I want to open, enter my password and then use 1password mini.
Is this a bug or a missing feature?
Thanks

Hi @couloum,
I can't say I've tried tried this scenario before but I went ahead and locked my vault to give it a whirl. Unfortunately at the moment I can't replicate your findings. From the mini lock screen I could switch to various vaults using the ⌘1...⌘9 shortcut or bring up a small menu to choose which vault to focus on by clicking on the 1Password icon just above the password field. The only change on the lock screen that you've changed vault is the greyed text that shows the name of the vault changes.
So just to confirm, neither of these approaches allows you to switch vaults? If you open up the main 1Password window does switching also not work there from the locked state where the switching vaults menu is in 1Password > Switch to Vault (the keyboard shortcut should still work).
Hopefully we can figure out why the keyboard shortcut isn't working for you.

Thanks for having looked at my issue. I can confirm you the following:
- I am able to switch to another vault using the ⌘1...⌘9 shortcut from the main app (and indeed, I can see the greyed text changing with the name of the vault to unlock)
- However, from the 1Password mini, the shortcut do not work. I always see the same vault name in grey in the field to enter password.
There is something that might be an explanation to that : I use a French keyboard layout. In this layout, numbers are accessibles with the shift key only (see this link for what looks like a french keyboard on a mac). So the shortcut I'm really using is ⌘⇧& and ⌘⇧é. Maybe is it supported by 1Password but not by 1Password mini ?
I tried to use the ⌘& and ⌘é shortcut (without the shift key), but it neither work on 1Password, nor on 1Password mini. Thanks for your support

Hello @couloum,
You've just brought the vital clue, the one that breaks the case of the shortcut oddity wide open. I do remember discussing this not that long ago and what we discovered is that currently we're unable to handle this situation. My understanding is we're looking at a very basic level where we check to see if the
⌘
key is being pressed down and it is with one of the keys1
-9
. Unfortunately while⇧&
does result in the number 1 the keyboard event being fired is⇧⌘&
and we're not looking for it. I'm not a programmer but they always look a little sad when we ask about keyboard shortcut so I believe they're a lot tricker than we all assume they must be. I suppose a lot has to do with what the operating system does and offers you but I can't offer a comparison between the various OSes out there. Now I could be wrong as I can't explain why it works in some places. It means I don't have a good answer for you I'm afraid. Clicking the 1Password icon in the 1Password mini lock will at least bring up the menu as shown in the image below.
Hopefully as a workaround it isn't too bad and it will allow you to work in a slightly more efficient way (although not as efficient as the proper keyboard shortcut I confess). Let us know what you think.

Hi @littlebobbytables ,
I didn't know about this workaround, and it seems ok for me to use that . Having the shortcut working would be better of course, as I wouldn't need to use my mouse/trackpad at all, but as long as I have a 1-step mouvement to change my vault, it is good enough.
Let's hope developers could take this issue into account (as I'm guessing that not 100% of 1Password users use an english keyboard layout). If we just could change the shortcut, it would be nice. Because there's another issue I didn't talk about: with the french keyboard layout, if I had 3 vaults or more, the shortcuts would interfere with the Mac OS screenshot shortcuts which are ⌘⇧3 and ⌘⇧4. As you can see, they are exactly the same as ⌘⇧" and ⌘⇧' with my layout.
Do you know how to submit a feature request?
Thanks
Florian

Hi @couloum,
Thank you for reporting that second issue, it didn't dawn on me at all and I do use those shortcuts!
Obviously we need to find a better way of handling this but should you currently have three or more vaults right now then I can at least suggest a small workaround so that you can switch to the later vaults. While our shortcuts aren't all currently user configurable you can at least alter the shortcut for taking screenshots. That shortcut is defined in System Preferences > Keyboard. It's in the Shortcuts tab of that page and you select Screen Shots from the list on the left hand side. This is a workaround - the suggestion that you change a keyboard shortcut for another service clearly isn't a real solution but it at least might help a little for now.
As for submitting the feature request - you've already done so by asking us why this wasn't working. One of the facets of my role is to record all bugs and feature requests on behalf of our users
