category needed for inactive (old) financial accounts
If there were a way to keep old accounts separate from active ones. Then when I went to pay by credit card using the web plug-in I wouldn't see a bunch of defunct payment options. I like to keep this info on file for future reference and what better place for long term storage of sensitive data then 1Password. If you can think of a way without having to add any features I would like to hear it. Thank you.

There is a way to do what you want to do. Set up a secondary vault and name it something like Archive. Move your old records that you don't want to discard, but also don't want to see, into that vault. Take a look at the Multiple Vaults section of the user guide. Feel free to ask questions if something isn't clear.
A couple of things to know: you must turn on syncing for each vault individually, if you want to have the secondary vault distributed to other devices over the cloud. It won't happen automatically, unless you go to the Sync section of 1Password Preferences and activate it for the new vault. Also, if you use iCloud for syncing, it will only allow syncing of the primary vault. You would need to set up and alternative way to sync the secondary vault, most likely Dropbox. If you use Dropbox already, then your set. Just set up the new vault to sync to Dropbox.

Just occurred to me that I could create a separate vault for old accounts. Still, I would be interested in hearing if there is a way to keep these old accounts in the same vault.

You could use Tags and/or Folders. Or Smart Folders.

Greetings @jprokos2,
I'm guessing the key requirement is that you don't want the old cards showing up in 1Password mini so you can avoid them being used to fill. If that is a good summary there is another option that you might be interested in.
Every item has a display option that is only visible when you're editing the item. The default setting is Always but it can be set to Never display in browser. When set to Never display in browser the item is no longer visible in 1Password mini. It isn't great for a large number of items but if you're wishing just to remove a number of cards from being available for filling this could be useful. I hope it helps

Thank you for that. That's a simple solution - I just didn't remember it.
