Can't believe there is no currency field for bank accounts...
Hello,
I am new user of 1Password (switched from mSecure) and I am still rolling my eyes there is no basic information about bank accounts such as currency of the account... This should be a standard field on all bank account templates years ago.
I also suggest adding the same for credit cards. In fact, it would be better to call it "payment cards". Credit card is such a misleading terms these days, especially with debit cards, prepaid cards, virtual cards, gift cards etc, but for the sake of simplicity it is probably better to keep everything under one category.

Hi @Malbec,
Can I ask, would you be wanting 1Password to use this information somehow or are you just wanting this particular detail recorded for your own personal use?
If it's just to help identify separate cards then you can add custom sections and fields to any item and we have a page in our guide on this at Add custom fields. You can add whatever kind of information you need to but custom fields are about adding information for you rather than 1Password utilising it during filling. Is this of any use to you in this situation?

Hi @littlebobbytables, thanks for your response on this one. Coming from mSecure currency was a standard field for all bank accounts, I expected the same in 1Password. This is for personal information only. These days people have different accounts in different currencies and while adding custom field may work, it is not possible to edit bank account template to make this custom field available to all bank accounts. So although there is a workaround it requires manual job on all bank account related records.
Same goes for credit / payment cards.

Hi @Malbec,
You are correct, it would need to be manually added to each item as we don't offer a way to alter the template - it's hardcoded inside of 1Password. I can't see an easy way forward for your existing items I'm afraid but if you believe you will need to create a number of items in the future then you could do something I adopted myself. I wanted to record details such as service tag, CPU, RAM etc. for a number of machines so I create a new Server item and set up the custom section for my needs. For each subsequent item I duplicate the 'template' so it will have it's own UUID yet retains all of the custom section ready for filling. Now this won't help for existing items as I say so this suggestion may not be of any use to you.
I suspect this might be something that seems pretty much essential for some people but many are unaffected by too. I'm not trying to suggest that your need isn't real, merely that in my time here at AgileBits this is the first request I've seen. It might be others have no need or if they did hadn't considered the advantage of what you're asking for. When it comes to the category templates part of the issue is backwards compatibility which makes it tricky to alter them. Eventually this won't be an issue but for the moment it still is so I don't want to build your hopes up that this change would be happening in the immediate future. What I will say is many here will love the freedom we will gain once backwards compatibility isn't a problem.

Hi @littlebobbytables, thanks for your response. I agree that majority of users are probably unaffected by lack of this field. However considering an extensive built in templates, I believe missing currency of the bank account is a design flaw these days.
I am doing lot of business transactions per month and I have no idea what is this routing field for... I mean, yes, I know what is routing number generally speaking, but I have never ever used anything like that when sending bank transfers. Maybe it is used in US / CA. Perhaps, coming from different countries and even continents, we all have different expectations to which fields should be included or not. It is really quite common these days for users in Europe to have different payment currency cards and multi currency bank accounts.
I am for the time being simply adding currency info in the title of the item, but 1Password being a clear leader on the market should have it all.

@Malbec: Defnitely. For example,

I've needed this for transfers both within North America and Asia. Interestingly, my accounts allow multiple currencies...which introduces a wholly different type of confusion for me! This is definitely something we can look into further. Thanks for bringing it to our attention! :)
