Availability of 1Password (version 5.4) through Foxfire has vanished. Any answers?
I tried to follow directions for re-installing 1Password extensions for Foxfire, but the Agilebits website opened Flock instead of Fixfire.
1Password Version: 5.4
Extension Version: 540047

I don't think I got the extension version correct. So what. I don't know the extension version for Foxfire. That's part of my problem. I tried briefly to follow the directions for finding the Safari extension version, but gave up. Agilebits does not provide instructions for the layman. They operate in a rarified world available only to geeks.

@hawgjohn You can install the 1Password 5 for Mac Firefox browser extension by visiting this page and clicking on the green "install" button.

The green "install" button carried me to extensions for Safari (which I already have), not Firefox. Off to the left on the page your link took me to is an alternative button which appears to offer the opportunity to install extensions for Firefox, but the one marked "Firefox" links my computer to Flock, not Firefox. Still puzzled, hawgjohn...

Hi @hawgjohn,
Our extension page is a generic one that hosts the extension file for all the major browsers. What should normally happen is the page reacts to the information reported by the browser and then the green "install" button offers you the correct extension. So if I click the install button in Safari it downloads the
.safariextz
at which point I double click to install. If I visit the page and click the install button from within Firefox it downloads the.xpi
file which Firefox automatically attempts to install. If you're saying you have Firefox open and when you visit 1Password Browser Extensions from within Firefox the install button results in the Safari extension being downloaded I can only think of one possible cause and that would be if Firefox's User Agent is set to Safari and not Firefox. This isn't something you could easily do accidentally though, it would have to be deliberate and maybe you had forgotten you were testing something. The easiest way to tell would be to check out a site like Tell Me About My Browser and see what it reports for the Browser part.
If it isn't that then I'm unsure at the moment. Can you describe the sequence of actions you did please, maybe something will stand out? By the way, is this the Flock you are referring to and is it still on your Mac?

Thanks, you've solved my problem. I was seeking to install the Firefox extension for 1Password using the Safari browser. I assumed you could find the extensions of all available alternative browsers from the Safari platform. It was perfectly clear that the green button on the extension download page was specifically targeted to Safari. The confusion arose from the icons on the lefthand side of the page, under which are written the words "Not using Safari" and below that a blue link saying "show all extensions." When you click on that, you are offered the opportunity to install the Firefox extension among others, and when you click on the "Firefox" extension, the Flock browser, not the Firefox browser opens. Result? Bewilderment....!

Hi @hawgjohn,
So that's interesting. Obviously that's great that we managed to help you get the Firefox extension installed but I'm surprised Flock is hogging the Firefox extension's extension. That looks weird to read but what I mean is all Firefox extensions end in
.xpi
. Now an application tells OS X what extensions are associated with the application so when you interact with a file OS X can pass it to the correct application. For whatever reason Flock has usurped Firefox here. I get that it can handle the same files but I suspect you would really prefer that Firefox is the default application in these instances. If you still have an XPI file in your Downloads folder select it and use the keyboard shortcut
⌘I
. In the Info window that pops up there is a Open with: section. You should be able to change it to Firefox and then use the hopefully now enabled Change All... button so that Firefox always handles the extensions going forward.I hope that helps
