My dropbox folder in on an external drive, that when I'm mobile, it's not connected and dropbox will not be running. Will it still work? I do have a mixed Windows/MAC/IOS environment and would like to use Dropbox to sync all. Also, after reading the user guide, there are many references to 'My Data'. I've got terabytes of music, videos, document, files, images etc on DROPBOX. is My Data referring to all my data or just my data that is kept in 1Password?

  • Hey @rgmcleod! That is an awesome question — not something people often ask. Even when you sync your data with Dropbox, it's stored locally in a database located in one of the following locations, depending on where you purchased the app.

    Mac App Store: ~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Library/Data/OnePassword.sqlite
    AgileBits Store: ~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/Data/OnePassword.sqlite

If you decide to keep your Dropbox folder on an external drive, you should still be able to access everything properly and create new items, but you may get some sync errors. No data will be lost and you always have backups locally if you need them. If you want, give things a try and report back to us with the results. Theoretically, it should work, but I'd love to hear how things go. :)
