Double click to edit a object
Even though I'm a happy 1Password for Mac user I'm struggling with the UI at times. The "feature" I'm missing most is that I can't double click on a object to start editing. This doesn't seem to be rocket science? It's not that the double click is used for some other function, it simply does nothing. By the look of things you would consider this rather default? Along the same lines, wouldn't CMD C/CMD V make sense to duplicate a object? I know that I can right click and Duplicate. Some more state-of-the-art usability would really make the otherwise perfect tool even better ;-)

Hi @FreundAlfred,
Thanks for your feedback about that!
The "feature" I'm missing most is that I can't double click on a object to start editing.
I'd be happy to pass that along to our developers, but I'm not quite sure exactly what "object" you're trying to double-click. Can you please elaborate on that? Are you double-clicking a category, tag, or folder in the sidebar of the main app? Or an item in the item list of one of those categories/tags/folders? Or a field in the item details? Or are you double-clicking something in 1Password mini instead of the main app?
Also, in case it helps, you can use the
⌘E
keyboard shortcut to edit an item instead of clicking the Edit button.Along the same lines, wouldn't CMD C/CMD V make sense to duplicate a object? I know that I can right click and Duplicate.
You can use
⌘D
to duplicate an item, which is the same as the shortcut to duplicate an item in the Finder. The⌘C
and⌘V
shortcuts can be used for certain text and fields. I can certainly let our developers know you'd like to use those shortcuts for items as well.Just in case it helps, you can find a list of keyboard shortcuts for 1Password and 1Password mini here: Keyboard shortcuts

Hi @Drew_AG, thanks for your quick reply! Since I'm using the German version of 1Password I did struggle referring to the elements with their proper names. What I called a "Object" is basically a entry/item I've created. Usually I search for something and when the item appears in the list and I'm about to update it, a double click to start editing would really be convenient. Thanks for the CMD E, I didn't know that! This is more or less another hint as to what it is I'm missing (again, very happy with the overall functionality, don't think I'm moaning, just taking the opportunity!). Instead of referring to a webpage with key board shortcuts, wouldn't it be nice if the context menu (right click on a element in the GUI) would "reveal" the associated key? I really don't want to stress you guys but... ;-) The "Copy" button (I assume that's what it is called in the English UI) next to the various data fields doesn't show a visual response when it is clicked. Buttons tend to do that and the fact that 1Password doesn't, often leaves me wondering "did I hit the button, is the expected information now held in the clipboard?".
Kind Regards!

Hey @FreundAlfred,
It's always cool for us to learn about the differences in languages. We're hoping to localize 1Password eventually. :) The
⌘
E
shortcut is indeed the most useful one in my experience. I use it all the time and have found it invaluable.Instead of referring to a webpage with key board shortcuts, wouldn't it be nice if the context menu (right click on a element in the GUI) would "reveal" the associated key? That's a great point! Once in a while I'll wonder if my password is copied as well. The nice thing is, you can click anywhere on the field to copy a password or piece of information in 1Password to your clipboard — there's no need to simply target the Copy button. Could you give that a try and let us know what you think?
