Upgrade from 1PW 3.8.22 on Two Computers with Different Systems
I currently have 1PW 3.8.22 installed on two systems (1) my old MacBook running OS 10.7 (the OS can't be upgraded above this) and (2) an iMac currently running OS 10.9 (Mavericks). [I have the latest version of 1PW for iOS running on my iPad Air and use Dropbox for sync.] I've stayed at 3.8.22 on the Macs so that the versions would be the same on both computers and they are working OK (except for the Firefox extension problem).
I'm getting ready to update the iMac from OS 10.9 to OS 10.11 (El Cap). I have 3 questions:
(1) Will version 3.8.22 continue to work once I've upgraded to El Cap?
(2) If not, what is the procedure to upgrade to El Cap and 1PW5 on the iMac? If I upgrade to El Cap first, will the 1PW 3.8.22 file be corrupted before I install 1PW5? Or is it possible to install 1PW5 (on OS 10.9), make sure everything works OK and then upgrade the system to 10.11?
(3) If I'm using 1PW5 on the iMac and version 3.8.22 on the MacBook will the MacBook be able to continue syncing through Dropbox and can I modify the passwords using the MacBook?
Thanks for the help!

Greetings @ChipMc,
Hopefully I can answer all of your questions  (and sorry for the delay).
- We are aware of incompatibilities between 1Password 3 for Mac and El Capitan in addition to any existing incompatibilities. We now have a sticky detailing what we're definitely aware of which can be found at 1Password 3: Modern browsers and OS X. I suspect this isn't a full list as we learn about other blips. I would strongly recommend not trying to use 1Password 3 for Mac on El Capitan as it will probably prove frustrating.
- While 1Password 3 for Mac doesn't play well with El Capitan it shouldn't technically make a difference whether you upgrade to 1Password 5 first or after upgrading to El Capitan. I would recommend upgrading to 1Password 5 first though as at the moment it means should you have any trouble at all you still have a working copy of 1Password 3 to rely on. The update should be seamless as 1Password should find your existing 1Password Agile Keychain and import it. We have a page, How do I upgrade 1Password for Mac from version 3? that should help if you have any doubts as well as us here in the forums.
- If you are syncing using an Agile Keychain in Dropbox you will be able to keep 1Password 3 & 5 in sync. We've tried not to do anything to the Agile Keychain that would stop 1Password 3 from being able to interact with it, both reading and writing, there will be things in 1Password 5 for Mac like TOTP that simply won't work in the older version but I'm sure that makes sense as to why.
I hope this helps a bit but please, if you have any questions do ask and we'll do out best to answer

Thanks for the help.
But regarding your #2, can I upgrade to 1Password 5 (from 1PW 3) on my Mavericks machine BEFORE I upgrade it to El Capitan? I thought that 1PW 5 required at least Yosemite.
Another interesting tidbit though. When I checked the Agilebits web site for my license, I noticed that I have three. One 1PW2 and two 1PW3's. I'm not quite sure why I lost my mind and bought the second 1PW3 license! I chalk it up to old-timers disease. Unfortunately, both were before 2013, so I'll need to pay for the upgrade. Will the upgrade price listed ($25) go up when the sale on the full version goes off or will it remain the same?

@ChipMc: You're entitled to the same upgrade pricing any day of the year. So no worries about the sale; that just gives others a chance at a deal. ;)
And I'm sorry for the confusion. 1Password 5 does indeed require Yosemite or El Capitan. It will not run on Mavericks. SO you would need to upgrade OS X first. I hope this helps! :)

Thanks Brenty. That's what I thought, but just wanted to double check.
