Update to onePassword has stalled in launchpad Mac running El Capitan - what should I do?

OnePassword seems to be trying to install an update. Launchpad shows an update is in progress but it never completes. Program is working fine - how do I kill the update without killing the program. I am running El Capitan on a MacBook Pro and OnePasword Version 5.4 (540046)

@JimAbbotshay: No need to worry! Your 1Password data is stored separately from the app, so it's perfectly safe to nuke the app if needed.

Simply restart your Mac, and I suspect you'll be able to install the update successfully. Worst case scenario, you drag the old, incomplete download to the Trash, restart, and then install a fresh copy from the App Store (under Purchased). 1Password will find your existing data, and you'll be back in business. Please let me know how it turns out! :)
