Syncing
I need help moving my passwords from 1Password 3.8.22 on MacBook Pro (OS X Lion) onto new MacBook Air (OS X El Capitan). On my new computer, I have 1Password 5.4.

Thanks for taking the time to write in. You're correct, Dropbox is going to be the quickest way to get your data from 1Password 3 on your older computer to your shiny new toy. ;)
To set up Dropbox sync for 1Password 3, please have a look at this article: Configure Dropbox sync in 1Password 3.
Once you're all set up on your MacBook Pro, give Dropbox a few minutes to sync and work its magic. Ensure that Dropbox is installed and running on your new MacBook Air, and that you're logged in with the same account. When Dropbox is fully synced, you'll see that the menu bar icon shows just an open box. (There's a spinning arrow icon to indicate when sync is in progress.)
When Dropbox is up to date on the new machine, open 1Password and set it up as an existing user. 1Password should detect your keychain in Dropbox and prompt you for your Master Password.
