password filling not working
As of a day or two ago, version 3 stopped filling in passwords in Chrome. I know v.3 is really old, I've stuck with it because I didn't like the v.4 UI. If I recall, it had no way for me to see what folder a password is in. Now I see that there's a version 5. Will my license for v.4 work?

Hi @KnightOfNight,
If you have a licence for 1Password 4 then you automatically have a licence for 1Password 5. 1Password 5 was a free update to all 1Password 4 users so please feel free to give it a look and see what you think. If you were considering upgrading to El Capitan then moving to 1Password 5 is something I would strongly recommend as we are aware if a few issues between 1Password 3 and Apple's latest version of OS X. It isn't OS X's fault at all, it comes down to the fact that Mountain Lion was the latest version of OS X when we still worked on 1Password 3 for Mac.
Should you have any other questions please do ask

I have upgraded to version 5 and it has the same problems that I found in 4 and new ones that weren't an issue before because I wasn't using the password generator. I will open a new thread about those problems.

Hi @KnightOfNight,

Are you referring to version 4 not showing you which folder an item was in? If so, there was an added feature in 1Password 5.4 which may help you. If an item is in a folder, the folder path is now shown in the item details. You can find that above the last modified / created dates which are near the bottom of the item details. This is a bit different than where you would see that information in 1Password 3, so you may not have noticed it.

I found it listed there, but that's not usable for checking a large number of passwords to see if they're foldered or not. I used to add the folder column to the list display then sort by it so all unfoldered items appeared at the top and were easy to see. I have since created a smart folder that will list all unfoldered items, which is a suitable replacement.

Hi @KnightOfNight,
I'm glad to read that you found Smart Folders (Saved Searches) could help with this aspect. They can be quite powerful

Thanks all. I'm getting a lot more comfortable with version 5. My biggest complaints are now surrounding the password generation features. I commented on a different thread about that.

Great! I'm glad to hear that you're settling in. And we've definitely got some ideas for how we'd like to improve the generator. Keep an eye out for updates! :)
