I can't verify that the extension is saving logins to the main app. Can I proceed?
I upgraded my OS from 10.8 to 10.11 and after upgrade, the chrome browser extension won't save new sites. I checked the error and it said I needed to update my desktop application, which I did. When I upgraded that application, it told me I also needed to upgrade my browser extension and led me to a page on your site telling me how to do that. The process involves being sure that the extension is saving data to the main application before deleting the extension... however, my whole problem is that the extension won't save new sites (and presumably won't update old ones, either, though I haven't tried). The page is very clear that I should not move on from this step and remove the browser extension until I have verified that it is saving data. I've copied my data file in case it gets corrupted in the process, and I'm inclined to just move on and delete the extension, but the warning not to move on without completing this step is firm enough that I thought I should check. What should I do?

Hi @mary_a,
I'm sorry you're having trouble upgrading the extension!
It looks like you were previously using 1Password 3 for Mac and are upgrading to 1Password 5. You currently have the 1Password 3 extension installed in Chrome, but that only works with the 1Password 3 app, which is why you also need to install a newer extension that works with 1Password 5. The reason the upgrade instructions ask you to save a new Login with the 1Password 3 extension is because that version of the extension kept a separate copy of your 1Password data, and would sync changes back & forth with the 1Password 3 app. If you had saved anything new with the 1Password 3 extension that for some reason didn't sync back to the main 1Password app, you would lose that when deleting the version 3 extension. So the upgrade steps are just trying to help you make sure you have all your latest data in the main app.
Now, if you're sure you already have all your latest data in the main app, you won't lose anything by deleting the version 3 extension. So you can go ahead and do that if you want. But if you think you may have added or changed anything in the version 3 extension that is missing from the main app, we can help troubleshoot the problem first.
Hopefully this helps explain the warning. If you need help with that, please let us know, thanks! :)
