I suspect that you have mini running. Is the keyhole icon present in your menu bar? If so, go to the 1Password 5 menu and hold the Option key. that will change the Quit 1Password option at the bottom of the menu to Quit 1Password and 1Password mini.

Let us know if that helps.

    Hi @johnmquest,

Are you sure you're dragging version 3 to the Trash? If so, that shouldn't cause an error message about 1Password 5 - unless that copy of the 1Password 3 app file had actually been renamed to "1Password 5.app" (which might happen if you had several copies of 1Password in the same folder on your Mac). Otherwise, is it possible you were actually trying to move version 5 to the Trash?

Please also make sure you're not using any app cleaning utilities when you delete the 1Password app. Those kinds of apps can also delete your 1Password data, and they might be configured to automatically try to move related files/apps to the Trash.

If you're still having trouble dragging it to the Trash, try restarting your Mac, then try again.

Does any of that help? Let us know how it goes, thanks!

    Hi @johnmquest,

Whew, I'm glad to hear that a restart got things behaving correctly for you!

I hope that 1Password behaves perfectly for you from now on, but if you have any other questions or concerns, we're here for you! :)
