1password 5.4, OSX 10.11, iCloud is not an option in dropdown box in 1password preferences
Trying to move vault from dropbox to iCloud. Did the vpfault thing. In 1password preferences the vault dropdown only has none, dropbox, and folder as option for vault location, no iCloud.

Why is iCloud not an option for storing the primary vault on mac?

@tjschuh iCloud syncing is only available in the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5. You have the AgileBits Store version that you purchase in 2013 and this doesn't support iCloud syncing (only Dropbox as you indicated).

Hello,
Why we can't convert the license to app store.
We can have a discount or something like this ?0 -
It doesn't make sense that the license for 1password purchased from AgileBits doesn't work for the same application that can be purchased from the Mac App store. Isn't it the same software?

Hi @tjschuh,
I'm sorry for the frustration here. Unfortunately the Mac App Store does not provide a way for us to transfer licenses from our store to the Mac App Store. The good news though is that 1Password is currently on sale for 40% off, so if you'd really like to switch to iCloud sync, now is a great time to do so!
Hi @arnoldo ,
Again, my apologies for the frustration. As I mentioned above, there's just no way to transfer a license from our store to the Mac App Store. However, we're always happy to honour our 30-day guarantee. If you've made your purchase of 1Password within the last 30 days, we can refund your purchase price and allow you to purchase from Apple directly.

We purchased a family license. It is not clear to me from the Mac App Store if the 29.99 is for one machine or can we use it on both Macs. Also, I'm not sure I properly converted our primary vault to what is needed in place of the agile bits format. Is there something that tells me what to do if I copy the current vault to iCloud drive?

Hi @tjschuh,
When you buy 1Password from the Mac App Store, you can download it on as many Macs as you have under the same Apple ID, and/or utilize Apple's Family Sharing to allow your family members to access the purchase from their own Apple ID.
Here's a guide for switching to iCloud sync. Let us know if you have any questions or run into a problem along the way. Otherwise, happy syncing!

Hi,
No I bought 1password from version 3, and the upgrade too. And for have iCloud ( and be safety, trouble with keychain on Dropbox) I must paid again from the store.
Not be a cool think...0 -
One last question. I got the mac app and it magically got all my logins, etc into iCloud and so the mac and iOS devices can use it. My question is how I can backup all my passwords, etc. If something goes wrong with iCloud, which I think happened see time ago, what is the way to salvage the agile bits file?

1P5 makes automatic backups of your data—see this knowledge base article:
How do automatic backups work in 1Password?
Of course, like most of us, you won't rely exclusively on those: you'll also back up your Mac regularly using something like Time Machine—so those backups will be included in your Time Machine backups. ;)

Hi @arnoldo ,
It's great to hear that you're thinking about the security of your data. I want to assure you though that the security of your data never depends on the security of the sync solution that you choose: it is perfectly safe to store your 1Password data in Dropbox. In fact, many of us on the AgileBits team do so. There's been some talk lately about the specific .agilekeychain data format, and there's a lot of great information available for you in this post: Your passwords are safe using the Agile Keychain format.
If you're having a different issue with your .agilekeychain in Dropbox, please do let us know and we'd be happy to help get things straightened out.
If you do decide that you'd like to move to the Mac App Store version of 1Password, it's important to note that we are unable to offer upgrade discounts there. The good news though is that our sale is still on! So you can get a 40% discount off of the Mac App Store version for a limited time.
Hi @tjschuh ,
Please let me know if you have any further questions after reading the link that Stephen shared. I'm so glad to hear that 1Password is syncing smoothly for you across all your devices!
