problem: requirement of removing backup disks before starting 1password: "The system ...
I can't run 1password because it says "The system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini." The fix is to disconnect the backup disks, but that is not a very good fix. This looks like a bug to me. Why can't it look to the startup disk to start 1password mini?
1Password Version: 5.4
Extension Version: 4.4.4
OS Version: 10.10.5
Sync Type: dropbox

I'm afraid this is an Apple problem that has existed since the launch of OS X Yosemite. The OS simply looks around for any version of the 1P helper it can launch on boot and, if there's more than one, has an uncanny ability to go for the wrong one. :)
There's a much better fix that simply disconnecting the backup disk(s). Simply:
- delete any copy of the 1P app file from the backup disk(s); and
- exclude the app file (only) from any future backup (because, of course, you can always re-download the app).

I suspect that the issue exists with many programs, but for most of them is not a problem.
I would like AgileBits to explain what could go wrong if the wrong version of mini were launched.

@dgnevada: Indeed. It is a bug. In
launchd
. :lol:1Password doesn't get to launch 1Password mini. OS X does. And often OS X will launch the wrong one if more than one copy of the app is present. There simply isn't anything we can do to dictate how this behaves. :dizzy:
Stephen is dead on. There's no need to disconnect backup disks, so long as you remove stay copies of 1Password itself. I hope this helps! :)
