Had ver.3 for Mac. Couldn't open vault and lost master password. Tried to start over but couldn't reopen vault. Had trial ver. which I thought was an upgrade to ver.3. Worked fine and reconstructed vault. Trial ended on Mac ver. but I also had the info. on an android phone and tablet. I purchased ver. for Mac and have it active on Mac now. I tried to access the old vault but couldn't. Trial ver. on android expired but the tablet ver. has 2 days. Tried to sync wifi from tablet to Mac but unable to. First instructions requested to start new vault. Is there any way to use license or any other method to restore trial ver (5) vault? I purchased the new version from the Apple store. Where do I find the license and do I need it?

1Password Version: 5.4
Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: Yosemite
Sync Type: wifi
Referrer: forum-search:reactivate trial version. recently purchased full ver. but cannot attach old vault.

    Hi @trajohn01,

It seems there are a few questions in there but I'm not sure I've fully understood all the issues you're experiencing.

Now you have asked about licensing. If you purchased 1Password 5 for Mac from Apple's Mac App Store then you don't have a licence file. The reason is Apple tie all Mac App Store purchases to your Apple ID. So the version of 1Password for Mac that you download via the App Store application on your Mac doesn't ask for a licence file - it knows you are a legitimate customer. We don't have the same infrastructure that Apple does so the version of 1Password downloaded from our site uses a licence file which we send when you purchase 1Password from our AgileBits Store. It sounds like you are running the AgileBits Store version of 1Password and that we need to migrate you to the Mac App Store version. This guide, Switching to the version of 1Password from the Mac App Store should help. There could be an issue here though as it sounds like you have multiple vaults, not all of which you can access.

If 1Password picks up the vault in the AgileBits Store version it should look like this screenshot, notice the lack of text on the lock screen.

If 1Password picks up an Agile Keychain from 1Password 3 then the screen should look a little more like this

The red highlighting is mine and it's to bring attention to part of the text that is clickable. When you click it should bring up a menu (see below)

What we really want is the top option where 1Password 5 for Mac (Mac App Store) reads the vault from the AgileBits Store version as I think that's the one you can access.

Please let me know how you get along with this bit. Once we've got you running the right version so that you're not being bugged about a licence we can turn our attention to the next point. Does that sound like a reasonable plan?

1password opened and requested my vault password. The vault had no information in it. 1password for Mac is currently running on my computer. There is still content in my vault on my tablet but I have not been able to sync it to 1password for Mac. How can I also put 1password back on my android device and my tablet? My primary concern is to reacquire the vault content and secondly have the two other devices to up and running 1password. Thank you for your help.

@trajohn01: You can sync your data back to 1Password for Android from 1Password for Mac after you've sync'd the tablet to the Mac via Wi-Fi Sync (or Dropbox).

If you can tell me a bit about the actual OS, 1Password, and device versions you're trying to sync together I'll be happy to go into more detail. Thanks in advance! :)

The OS is Yosemite (10.10.1), 1Password is ver. 5.4, and the ver. on the tablet is 4.5.3. I have not been able to wi-fi sync to my mac.

@trajohn01: Thanks for confirming! Are you receiving some sort of error message when you try to Wi-Fi Sync? It is important to remember that there is a lot that can go wrong with Wi-Fi in general (as I am sure we all know from experience!) It depends on every link in the chain, and the weakest can always cause it to break. I know you've probably tried some of these steps already, but I want to make sure that we account for every point of failure. Please try each of the following:

    1. Make sure your devices are connected to the same network!
    2. Reset device Wi-Fi (both devices)
    3. Restart OS (both devices)
    4. Soft-reset router (if possible)
    5. Hard-reset router
    6. Reset sync settings (both devices)
    7. Forget the Wi-Fi network and reconnect
    8. Disable software firewall
    9. Disable security software
    10. If security or firewall software turns out to be the issue, turning it back on and setting an exception for the traffic may work, provided that is an option.*

*You'll need to open UDP port 5353 for both outbound and inbound traffic, which is the port that Bonjour (Apple's zeroconfig implementation) uses for connecting available services on the network.

Keep in mind that you may need to set this up in your router as well if it is blocking traffic, but generally that won't be the case.

So a good place to start is OS X Firewall settings: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201642

You can also set up an ad-hoc connection to eliminate the router as the problem:

How to create an ad-hoc wireless network

And finally, if your Wi-Fi setup is simply not conducive to syncing, you can always use Dropbox Sync instead, which tends to work better since they handle all the heavy lifting, rather than depending on your network configuration.

Please let me know what you find. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)
