If you're using the latest version of 1P on your Mac (1P5.4) you can do this:

If you do, and choose large type, you will see something that will be very helpful for you in the circumstances you describe. ;)

If you are using version 5.4 of 1PW then there is a Large Type option that numbers the characters so that you know what to fill in. But it can't be done automatically.
