Am concerned about security of my data that has been sync using drop box
Concerned about articles the indicate some of current info. is saved in plain text and if sync over iCloud that unauthorized access by hackers may be possible. Not sure of the validity of such claims.
I have used dropbox. Have Mac computer OS X 10.11 (ElCapatin)
1Password version 5.4.1
Read one article that indicated iPassword was going to change and use something called OVVault format (whatever that is)
which would be more secure and solve the unauthorized access.

I have sync my 1password with dropbox. Am now reading that someone has discovered that there are critical access points that put my data at risk to hackers. This is very disturbing to say the least. Recommendation is to use a OVVault format. How do I do that? Article indicated the you were gong to fix this PROBLEM, but no indication of when. Hope it is not too late. Once data is exposed seems it is out there for ever. Do I now have to change everything I have in 1password to be protected? Chuck

Hi @cwyams,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I merged your two posts into this one thread for you.
Your data is safe. Please read my post that is pinned at the top of this category:
Your passwords are safe when using the Agile Keychain format

I understand that the passwords are secure. Guess I ask the wrong question. When will 1Password update their program so the MetaData is also fully protected. I am just debating if it is best for me to wait if that is to occur soon (next month or so), or go ahead and follow the instructions for making changes in the terminal commands. ( am a bit nervous about messing in that area, even though the instructions make it sound simple. Problem for me is that as a mid level user, I am not sure what the real risk is. Think a hacking of my data would more of a nuance than a serious data risk.Chuck

Hey @cwyams,
When will 1Password update their program so the MetaData is also fully protected.
Right now, you can move things to the OPVault format to secure your metadata. Simply follow our knowledge base guide to switch to that format, which encrypts the metadata that the Agile Keychain format did not. This process takes five minutes at the most — you only have to run one Terminal command and then convert your existing vaults in Dropbox. I was able to do it to my four vaults in a few minutes time. :) If you do have any questions about this, though, let us know.
