Same here. Tried installing the beta, the previous version, restarting, nothing helps.

You might try the suggestion in this AgileBits post.

    If that doesn't work:

@Mari_CZ please tell us whether you're using the Mac App Store version of 1P or the AgileBits store version.

@serbrech please tell us exactly what version of 1P for Mac you are using (including where you bought it). (I know you referred to installing the beta, which is from the AgileBits store, but what do you mean by "the previous version"?)

Have you tried the suggestion in my previous post? Are you saying it didn't work?

  • Hi @Mari_CZ and @serbrech,

Thanks for writing in, I'm sorry to hear that the app isn't launching correctly. The first thing to try is what @Stephen_C mentioned, which is to follow the instructions on this forum comment. We're still tracking down what is causing OS X to incorrectly un-quarantine our app, and you may be getting bit by that. Sometimes a reboot of the Mac does the trick with this as well.

Another possibility for this that I've seen is that you may have two copies of 1Password on your device. You should use Spotlight to search your Mac for "1Password" and ensure that you only have a single copy. 1Password 5.4 is very sensitive to this, even moreso than previous versions due to some additional security checks we put in place.

Try those two things and let us know how that works. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks agile support. This solved my problem:

First off, here's what I'd like you to do:
    1. Open a Finder window.
    2. Navigate to your Downloads folder.
    3. Drag 1Password 5 to the trash.
Note: Don't use any system cleaners, as they'll erase your data as well. Simply dragging the app to the trash will work just fine. :)

Then empty the trash and reboot. If the problem persists, can you try the following:

    1. Open the Terminal app (found in your Mac’s Applications folder under Utilities, or with a Spotlight search).
    2. Copy this single line command, then paste it into the Terminal window you just opened:

    xattr -d -r -s com.apple.quarantine '/Applications/1Password 5.app'

    1. Tap the return key to run that command.
    2. Open 1Password 5 app.

Excellent! Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that worked for you! For some reason OS X isn't properly setting the attributes, but that Terminal command fixes things right up. Cheers! :)
