Is it possible to switch to the Mac AppStore version of 1Password?
I own 1Password (currently 5.4.1) that I bought from the AgileBits store. Is it possible to somehow switch to the Mac AppStore version so that I can use iCloud Sync? If I have to buy it completely new it is probably not worth it for me but if there is some cheaper option that would be great. In general I love 1Password and don't want to be without it any more. You are doing a great job!
1Password Version: 5.4.1

The only way to get the Mac App Store version is to buy a license there. Apple does not provide developers with any way to transfer licenses or even to offer discounted pricing to individual users. Everyone pays the same amount. At the moment, as I write this, 1Password is on sale for 40% off. The sale has been announced as being for a short time, so I don't know how long it will last. Only you can decide if having access to iCloud is worth the cost. There isn't any security difference between iCloud and Dropbox, and Dropbox allows syncing multiple vaults and sharing vaults with others. iCloud doesn't support either of those features.
Now, if you bought your license from AgileBits within their 30 day money back window, they will issue a refund and you can then buy from the Mac App Store. Your post doesn't say whether you fallen that window, but if you do, send email requesting a refund to support+licenses@agilebits.com. Include the email address you used for your purchase. You'll receive an automated reply that includes a support ticket number. It should speed the process if you post that ticket number back in this thread.

Hey @halfyearsun! We do have a 30-day money back guarantee as hawkmoth mentioned, but I checked our system for the email address you used to sign up here and it looks like you purchased well outside that. Also as hawkmoth mentioned, we don't have a way to discount or offer promotional copies of the Mac App Store version. Why do you need to switch to iCloud sync? Perhaps we can work out whatever is wrong with Dropbox and you won't have to switch. :)
If you'd like to switch to iCloud sync, the you'll need to simply purchase the app again in the Mac App Store. You can follow this guide to move things over:

Why thank you! 8-) Let us know if this helps!

Never mind, it's not a big deal. I don't have any issues with Dropbox sync, I just have a shared folder in there (of our church) that uses practically all the space of my dropbox. And if somebody of the many people who share it copies some large file in there my dropbox is full and I can't sync my passwords any more. Of course in general we should probably split this folder into several smaller ones but I'm probably not the one to decide this. Since my iCloud account is only used by myself I thought that would be a nice option to solve the issue. But it happens only once every few months, so that's not worth buying a new license of 1Password.
What I generally don't understand yet: now that there is iCloud drive on the Mac can't I just copy my vault to the right folder where 1Password for iPhone expects it and iCloud drive will take care of the syncing? If it works just like Dropbox and Google Drive it should work like that, right?

@halfyearsun Sounds like Dropbox may indeed continue working well. You can always upgrade your Dropbox account if you continue to experience shortage of space, or use a different account just for 1Password — the data doesn't take up much space.

Well, yes and no. iCloud Drive can work like a drop box for your files, but is not recommended for databases. Since 1Password uses databases to store its information, CloudKit is the preferred means of transporting that to Apple's servers and back. In theory, you could use iCloud Drive to sync your data between devices, but it wouldn't work on iOS due to the way things are structured, and it hasn't shown to be the best method of syncing data between computers either. Google Drive is like this as well — an unsupported syncing solution. At the moment, the best option is Dropbox.
Hope that helps answer your questions. :) Let us know if you need anything else.
