Had an earlier version of 1 Password and lost the password. I started over but can't get started

I purchased the software again on my Mac running OX Yosemite. It is asking me for my password which I forgot. Don't know how to get past this. I now have purchased twice and can't use the software.

Here are the instructions for starting over:

How do I start over with an empty vault?

    Please note:

    • You need to follow the instructions carefully: they differ depending on whether you have the Mac App Store version of 1P or the AgileBits store version.
    • If you ever used Dropbox or iCloud to sync your 1P data to another device there may be other steps you need to take in addition.

@Marcmast1: Indeed, just follow the steps in that guide to start over from scratch, and be sure to let us know if we can be of further assistance. We're here for you ! :)

I have done this three times now. Each time when I reboot it asks me for my password which I have lost. I suppose when I set it up I may have used ICloud. How should I proceed?

If you ever sync'd your 1Password data via iCloud you may need to re-set your 1P iCloud data.

@Marcmast1: Indeed, if you have a vault in iCloud which you cannot access and you want to start over, the best thing to do would be to follow the guide Stephen_C linked to reset the data there (that way you can use iCloud to sync a new vault).

Then you can also use the Data Reset Utility for 1Password 5 to automate the 'starting over' process:

    1. Download the Data Reset Utility for 1Password 5
    2. Double-click the ZIP file to decompress it (if your browser didn't do that for you automatically)
    3. Control-click on the tool and select "Open" from the shortcut menu
    4. Follow the prompts, and 1Password should give you the chance to start with a new vault

Please let me know how it turns out. I look forward to hearing back from you! :)
