1PasswordAnywhere Meta Data is not encrypted?

A friend in my Pi club who's a LastPass partisan pointed me to a recent Steve Gibson rant, this one about the meta data in 1PasswordAnywhere not being encrypted, thus exposing email addresses and urls. I responded to him that I knew there was a reason I tried never to use 1PasswordAnywhere but now knew why. So please tell me that you folks are finally fixing this, regardless of how much sense it made 2-3 years ago. Don't leave us hanging out to dry here folks, please!

  • Hey @plotical! The unencrypted metadata you're hearing about is related to the Agile Keychain format, which is an older version 1Password's vault storage format. The current version is the OPVault. The only thing is it doesn't support 1PasswordAnywhere. We're currently looking into a way to bring 1PasswordAnywhere up to date for the modern web. In the meantime, if you're worried about the Agile Keychain format's unencrypted metadata, I highly recommend giving this post a read. Your usernames and passwords are kept perfectly safe. :) Let us know if you have any other questions.
