1password mini will not quit

Hi! 1password mini does not quit. Not even after having quit Safari and reopened. The mac was put to sleep overnight and I directly could go into 1pass mini without logging in. It did not use to behave this way. Scary.

Mini is normally not meant to quit, though there are ways of quitting it.

Now if you were able to get into its passwords without entering your master password, that's a different matter. In the main 1PW preferences, choose the Security tab and see what the settings are and change them if you want. I have mine set so that the master password is not usually needed,as I am the only person who has access to my computer. You may have them set a similar way and would prefer a different choice.

  • Hey @josteinskeidsvoll,

How did 1Password mini behave previously? When you set up 1Password, the app usually asks you if you'd like to keep mini running. It also asks if you'd like to automatically lock your vault after a set amount of time. You can change these settings in 1Password's Preferences window, which can be accessed using the ⌘ , shortcut. In the Security tab of Preferences, you'll find an option to lock on sleep, after a specific amount of time since it was last active, and so on. In the General tab you can choose to not keep 1Password mini running, though this is not recommended as it will stop filling in your browser from working properly.

Hopefully that helps things along. :)

@josteinskeidsvoll Danco is correct in that you need to check your 1Password Security Preferences to make sure they allow for 1Password to lock when you want it to.

Thanks to all! Now it works as I want to. As before the "time out" is set to 2 minutes. Actually I have done nothing except to rebuild desktop and restart. I don´t now for sure, but something happened and now it works anyway. I am a very pleased user of 1Passw!
