1PW is sold per platform, so iOS and Mac OS X are different purchases. And Apple's rules don't permit a bundle of the two.

The basic iOS version is free but with an in-app purchase for additional features.

The Mac version can be bought either from the Mac App Store or direct from AgileBits. If you want to use iCloud sync, you MUST buy from the App Store. If you want discounts when there are paid upgrades you must buy direct from AgileBits, as currently Apple do not allow such discounts. You can use Dropbox sync with either purchase, and AgileBits are happy to recommend it as at least as good as iCloud.

Can you tell me what version I purchased, because I could swear that I received a license in an email right after the purchase. My Mac version says 1P 5 and the iPhone says v. 6. So do I need to purchase a 1P for Mac now also?

1P5.4.1 is the latest version of 1P for Mac. The latest version of 1P for iOS is 6.0.2. You can check your Mac version by going to 1P5 > About 1Password (in the 1Password menu). If you're already running a licensed version of 1P5 for Mac you don't need to buy another copy.

  • Hey @ericpelz2,

Well it turns out the Desktop version of 1P and iPhone version aren't the same, is this correct.

This is correct. The iOS app is free with an in-app purchase to enable Pro features. The Mac app has a 30-day trial through our site and can then be purchased either through the AgileBits Store or Mac App Store. If you want iCloud sync, the Mac App Store version is the only way to use it. Otherwise, the AgileBits Store version has its benefits as well.

If you purchased 1Password 5 from the Mac App Store, you can download the latest version by logging into the store with the Apple ID you used to purchase it, navigating to the Purchases, and clicking Download beside 1Password. The Mac App Store version does not include the same type of license that the AgileBits Store version does — Apple bundles everything for you, and the license is your computer talking to their servers before and after you install the app to make sure things are working properly.

Let us know if that helps clear things up. :)
