Just updated to 1PW 5.4.1 from agile bits website. 1PW will not accept Password or start

Got a notice from Macupdate that 1PW 5.4 had been updated. Downloaded from the agile bits website and installed. It will not start after I enter my password.
When I launched the earlier version today, I get the message that the mini was being launched from a clone backup, the first time that has ever happened. I drilled down through the new version's Container to the mini app and launched it by double clicking.
The version of the mini shown in the Container/Library/Loginitems is 5.4.1
Need help ASAP; can't work at all.

1Password Version: 5.4
Extension Version: 4.4.4 in Safari
OS Version: OSX 10.11.1
Sync Type: DropBox
Referrer: forum-search:. Just updated to 1PW 5.4.1 from agile bits website. 1PW will not accept Password or start

Just trashed 1PW and reinstalled from download. got the following message on launch:
Richard Zeren, We've Got a Problem
he system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini.

    Instead of '/Applications/1Password 5.app/Contents/LoginItems' it started '/Volumes/ZBackup/Applications/1Password 5.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems'.

I suspect you have a backup drive permanently connected to your Mac. This knowledge base article covers the situation:

How to remove multiple, conflicting copies of 1Password from your system

Note the last section about backup drives. The solution (if you wish to have the backup drive permanently connected) is to:

    • delete any copy of the 1Password app file (only) from the backup drive; and
    • exclude the 1Password app file from any further backups (because, of course, you can always re-download it if you need to).

Provided you don't use any app cleaner tool when deleting the app file none of this will interfere with your 1Password data.

    Hi @RWZeren,

I'm sorry you're having trouble with 1Password! I see that you also emailed us about this, and someone from our team has already replied to that (if you didn't receive the email, please make sure you check any junk folders/spam filters to see if it was caught there). We'll keep the conversation going directly via email to avoid creating any confusion between here and there. Thanks! :)
