How to change item from bank account to login without recreating a new item

I have an item with information about a bank account that would be better as an login item. How do I convert the item to an login format without starting from scratch?

You can't actually do that directly. The easiest way to do it is to find the item using 1P mini, display it by hovering over the item with the cursor and then click the anchor symbol in the bottom left corner of the displayed item. That will anchor the item to your Desktop while you copy and paste relevant fields to the new item.
