Bug: Parsing CSV

Hi I found a small bug in the way you guys generate and parse csv files when moving between password managers. Basically, I generated a cvs file from my password database and then tried to use load it somewhere else. It had my passwords stored in the name and the names of the passwords in the password field. Thanks for your time.

Regards,
kevani

    Greetings @kevani,

Can you confirm what version of 1Password you're running please. I see you say you're running El Capitan but I'm struggling to believe the version you posted for 1Password.

Sorry Mr.Tables here is the version number straight out of the about for the application.

  • Hey @kevani,

Thanks for the update on this. In regards to your original question: Are you importing or exporting CSVs with 1Password? If you're importing, what tool are you using? If you're exporting, how are you doing it so we can try to replicate the issue? Let us know!

It would also be helpful to know the password manager, as there may already be a method to convert the data.

    Hi @kevani,

If you're importing CSV format data into 1Password that's been exported from another app, or created in some other way, please refer to this guide for more details:

How to create a 1Password compatible CSV file

When exporting CSV format data from 1Password you can select which fields to export and drag their tokens around in the export window to change which order they're exported in.

I hope that helps you to import/export CSV data with 1Password in whichever direction you're going. :)

Plus there's also MrC's data conversion utility referred to in his latest reply. :+1:
