1P does not respond to any master password entered. 1P mini works fine.

Hi guys,
Today, I got some really weird issues with 1P that resulted in the fact that 1P does not respond anymore to entering the master pass. Its behaviour is similar as the "enter"-key being broken.

This morning, 1P worked fine. However, after an attempt to install an update, everything changed.

Here are my actions in order:
(1) Pup-up of 1P that there was an update available. When I accepted the install, the following error was raised: "1Password Updater can't be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed". As a consequence, the updater could not be loaded.
(2) Errors where thrown by Chrome extension: "The system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini."
(3) I uninstalled 1P 5 (downloaded from the webpage) and the Chrome extension (sorry, I cannot recall the version of the extension)
(4) I installed 1P version 5.4.1 from the webpage. 1P does not respond to any passwords (correct or incorrect) that are entered.
(5) 1P mini works fine. Also, 1P mini is able to unlock 1P correctly.

It looks like that the event of entering a master password in 1P is broken.

If anybody has a possible solution how to make my 1P respond to entering my master password, please help me out!

Paul

If you make a Spotlight search for 1Password what is the result?

@goudvis: Indeed. It sounds like you simply have multiple copies of the app. You only need one. Drag any others to the Trash and restart your Mac. I suspect that will clear things up, but we're here for you either way. Let me know what you find! :)

    Hi guys,
My search to find my invisible second 1P-installation did not provide any results. Here my query:

    grep -rs "1Password" / --exclude-dir=/Applications/1Password\ 5.app"
    This grep-command returned zero lines.

Lets say that I have one version installed, what are other approaches to resolve this strange problem?

    Hello @goudvis,

A diagnostic report will potentially give us a better idea. This guide will assist.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums

The email address you will want to use is support+forum@agilebits.com.

When sending the diagnostic report to the address above it would help immensely if you could include a link to this thread and your forum handle so we can connect the two.

Once you've sent the report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. With access to the report we should be able to better assist you

    Hi littlebobbytables, brenty and stephen,
Thank you all for your help. Today, I figured out that there was indeed a second 1P on my Mac. After removing it, I didn't got the error anymore. Strangely enough, this file was not discovered by my grep-command. I am really happy that I can enjoy 1P again!
