Check this out: Sync options compared: Dropbox vs. iCloud vs. Wi-Fi
If you decide you want iCloud, you must buy from the MAc App Store, since Apple doesn't allow access to the required sync protocols for any application they don't sell themselves. Both versions can use Dropbox or Wi-Fi.
