I have a Mac that will not boot, how do I get my passwords of the HD that I can still access?
I have been using 1Password for years but my Mac no longer boots and I need to reinstall the OS. I can access the hard drive though target disk mode as an external hard drive from another Mac. I created an HTML backup in the past that I can access but it is missing a years worth of passwords. What file(s) do I need to copy over from the old hard drive and where are they located so that I can get to my passwords when I reinstall 1Password? I purchased 1Pasword as a download, can I redownload? Thanks, Greg

Hi @techdesigner,
I'm sorry to hear about the problem with your Mac! But I'm glad you can still access the hard drive, so you should definitely be able to recover your 1Password data from there.
The location of your 1Password data will be different depending on which version you were using (it sounds like version 3, 4, or 5), and whether you were using the Mac App Store version or AgileBits Store version. Normally you can find the version by opening the main 1Password app and going to the menu for 1Password > About 1Password. But if you aren't able to launch it, you should still be able to select the app file and go to File > Get Info (the info window will show the version number).
If you're using 1Password 3, it's probably the AgileBits Store version. If you weren't syncing with Dropbox, the default location of your 1Password 3 keychain file on that drive would be here:
~/Library/Application Support/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain
Also, the location for your 1Password 3 backup files would be here:
~/Library/Application Support/1Password/Backups
If you're using 1Password 4 or 5, you should look for the backup files and copy those to the new hard drive. If you were using the Mac App Store version of 1Password 4 or 5, the location for those backup files is:
~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Library/Backups
If you were using the AgileBits Store version of 1Password 4 or 5, the location for those backup files is:
~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/Backups
Does that help to find your data/backups? If so, and you need help to restore your data from those data/backup files, please let us know the version number and if you had been using the Mac App Store or AgileBits Store version. Thanks! :)
