I want the App Store version of 1Password, but I'm not running Yosemite yet
I'd like to purchase the App Store version of 1Password so I can eventually have the functionality of iCloud syncing. However, I haven't upgraded beyond Mavericks yet (work reasons). My plan was to purchase on the App Store and ask for a 1Password 4 license.
Does anybody know how I can accomplish this? The app is free to download on my iphone and ipad, so I can't make the purchase on those devices. And I don't have another computer available to make the purchase. Thanks in advance!

Hi @djwtx,
So here's the bad news. The only way to purchase 1Password for Mac from Apple's Mac App Store is to be running at least Yosemite. The minimum requirements for 1Password 5 for Mac, in terms of OS, is OS X 10.10 (AKA Yosemite) and Apple simply won't let you purchase an application that you cannot run. The funny thing is if you have 1Password in your list of Mac App Store purchases, you can ask to download 1Password for Mac on a Mac running Mavericks and Apple will pop up a message saying "hey, you can't run 1Password 5, would you like to download the last compatible version?" which for Mavericks was 1Password 4 for Mac. In other words you wouldn't need to ask for a 1Password 4 licence!
Do you have an Apple store or a friend running Yosemite at all? Really all you need is an OS X account on a Yosemite machine for say a couple of minutes while you make the purchase. My suggestion is a brand new OS X user account, you log into the App Store, make the purchase, stop the App Store from downloading 1Password and then completely delete the entire user account. It's a bit of a faff but at the end the important part is you have 1Password for Mac in your Mac App Store purchase history and as I say, you can actually download 1Password 4 for Mac from the App Store application on your Mac.
Sadly it's the only way if iCloud Sync later is a must.
There's a small variant on the above. If you have an external drive you could clone your internal storage device and boot off the external. Upgrade the external to Yosemite to make the purchase and then close down and boot of the internal device to return to Mavericks.
Both are clunky - I freely admit it but sadly they are the only ways to do this that I can think of.
